Help?!?? Weird Pains Suddenly...

Recommended Posts

So this morning has been so unusual. I woke up at 9am made a cup of coffee at 9:30 with sugar free Creamer and finished that at around a 11am had a cheese stick which went down fine...11:45 decided I needed just a lil bit more coffee today to fight the tiredness, literally took like maybe 5 sips of it and put it down. Started getting major stuck like feelings and super nauseous. Went to bathroom and for 10minutes dry heaved and burped??? Nothing came up...now still having chest pain and laying down feeling like I will be sick again if I move around too much. What Is this? I was banded 6/28 and had my first fill 7/25 although still hardly anything in band bc the doc as they were going to go super slow with me bc after surgery when I did swallow test the Water wouldn't even pass through... Do I need to go to er?? Kinda scared it hurts bad in my chest and not sure how I could be stuck when I really didn't eat anything?!?

Whenever you can't get anything down, I think you are supposed to seek medical attention immediately, so either call the on-call number for your surgeon, or head to the hospital.

Coley, when you ate your cheese stick did you wait your time to drink any fluids? Did you chew chew chew that cheese and take breaks in between? Do you think you drank to fast after you ate the cheese? If you can still get fluids down you are more than likely having a 'stuck' episode. I seriously dread it and it scares me. I am in the mushy stage now and everything I eat is liquidy. I do drink very fast at times (well all the time) and so far (knock on wood) I have been okay.

I've heard many on here say try sipping pineapple juice or chewing Papya enzymes if you have a stuck episode. If its a really a bad stuck take a few sips of gingerale (very very tiny sips) you don't want to expand your pouch, supposedly the 'carbanation" works as an 'unplug" system. However, I would do that as your last resort if you still have that stuck feeling.

If you still feel this way, call up your surgeon...

Best of luck, keep us all posted!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
