You are human and it happens. I had more than a few drinks a couple months out. Just remember it is empty calories and lots of sugar.

As others have said...alcoholic beverages are empty calories. The other information which you need to be aware of is that less alcohol is needed now to feel the effects of it. I was also strongly advised by my surgeon to wait an entire year before having even a glass of wine.

True confessions...when I was not quite 5 months out since surgery I attended a party and the hostess makes the best Jello shots. I could not resist, and ended up having 2...and was thankful that I did not have to drive. No harm done...

It's no biggie, other than the calories.

Beer could be problematic, since it can stretch your pouch...

But non-carbonated alcohol is no problem as far as the band goes. Just limit yourself so as not to put too many calories.

I had a bottle of wine last week and I'm less than 2 months out. I was told just nothing with bubbles or any types of beer.

i have very little tolerance for the 1 drink i like , im limited to an occasional strawberry margarita ,so 3 months out i had 3 sips of a margarita at a mexican restaurant and ohhhh, big mistake !! now i had even less tolerance and ended up in the bathroom and parking lot and lost everything ! i can handle a homemade margarita but for some reason not the restaurant ones. so beware your tolerance may be different with the type of alcohol, time of month, etc.......

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
