Need Advise Asap!!! Feel Like Crap!

Recommended Posts

I am on mushy food stage.... Today my mum made me scrambled eggs cooked with olive oil, it was soooooooooo oily but I ate it as I was hungry and tired. Felt abit sick after but it eventually went down. Will this effect my weightloss? Will I put on pounds? Is olive oil fattening? Am worried I might put on weight because of this oily meal..... Need advise! Was that meal a choice healthy eventhough it was oily?

One meal is nothing in the grand scheme. No worries. Oive oil can be good for you as long as it's in moderation just like all foods.

Please fill in your profile so that we can better help you? I don't know if you are pre or post op by your post?

No that meal was loaded with Protein. The olive oil should not hurt you. Just let mom know that it made you feel sick because it was so greasy. Ask her to use spray oil and them use liquid butter spray like "I can't believe it is not butter"

You should be fine as long as you are not loading up on carb mushies. If you check out my profile, I puts on items I bought some plates that allow me to measure without the measuring cups for my husband so he does not over feed me.

First.... be calm. One meal isn't going to make you pack on the pounds.

Second, I would start getting in the habit of looking at ingredients. We can't guess how much oil was used or even how many eggs were eaten. However good food choices will be crucial to your weight loss. I've used an app called Lose It! since the day I got home from hospital and it's helped so much. At a glance, I can see immediately if a food is a good choice or not for me to be eating based on it's nutrients and calories.

Lastly, have you met with a nutritionist? If not, I highly recommend doing so, specifically one that deals with bariatric patients. They can teach you how to make good food choices and set you up on guidelines that are realistic for your lifestyle.

Best wishes.

I agree that's it's a good idea to track ur food. I use myfitnesspal...it's online or a phone app too.

One meal isn't going to make u gain a ton of weight. I've made bad choices a few times, but it's about moving on from that and making good choices from then on. My mom was a bit on the side of adding a lot of oil an such, but I just had to be super honest and tell her that it's healthier for me with less oil, etc. just let family members know and they will understand. Best of luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
