I have been on so many diets for the last 20 years. My highest weight 405lbs I was happy I lose some weight but it was not enough. Nov. 28,2008 I decided to go on a Protein shake diet.My starting weight was 373 got down to 304lbs in three months. I was so hungry and the scale didn't move anymore I gave up. Now I weigh 387 lbs wondering all that hard work I did just to gain it back then some.I went to my first lap band seminar on July 30,2012 after a lot of research talking it over with my family I will continue the process to get the lap band. I know the lap band is just a tool, it's all up to me to lose the weight. I'm ready to make a life style CHANGE I go to my first Dr. appointment on Aug.14,2012 I can't wait.

Last year I gave up meat hoping to loss weight, I loss a few pounds gain it all back. A few months ago I started eating fish 2 of 3 days out of a month. I don't have the desire to eat red meat, chicken, etc. I eat veggie meat and seafood ONLY, is there anyone had the lap band and don't eat meat?

I hope you all don't get tired of me posting. I have a lot of weight to loss I need all the support I can get Thanks for your replies, HAPPY WEIGHT LOSS!!!!!!

I completely understand your frustration and disappointment. I started off on this journey at a whopping 421 pounds. Like you, I have yo-yo dieted my whole life.

As for the meat, I am not a big meat eater at all. Truth is, I could go the rest of my life never eating read meat again and be perfectly happy. You can most definitely have the band without meat so long as you're sure to get enough Protein from other sources. Seafood is actually a great source of Protein as well as Omega acids. I eat tons of tuna and other seafood (in fact I just had a little tuna casserole for lunch). I'm just very careful be sure I get at least 60g of protein a day despite the fact I really don't care for meat.

I think you're off to a great start! Welcome!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
