How Do You Like To Move It - Move It?

Recommended Posts

I was curious as to what kind of workouts/DVDs/activities people enjoy doing to stay active and burn off all those pounds we’re trying to shed. I’ve been doing a lot of different DVDs because I don't enjoy going to a gym. I recently moved to a new area and would love to do Zumba again, BUT in the mean time I've been doing DVDs. Here’s the list of the ones I’ve been using:

Walk Away the Pounds with Leslie Sansone (This is a really good DVD to get back into the swing of things. I own the 1, 2 and 3 mile DVDs. It’s not overly difficult and I think that just about anyone could do this work out. There’s no getting on the floor to do anything and there is a “low impact” option for all the moves they do.)

The Biggest Loser - 30 Day Jump Start (This DVD has ten minute work outs for Cardio level 1, Cardio level 2, Upper body, Lower body and Abs. You wouldn’t think that ten minutes would do a whole lot but it’s a good one for people trying to get back into a workout routine again. Or you can choose to do all 50 minutes of the DVD. I would recommend having weights for this DVD. They do use them a lot.)

The Biggest Loser - Cardio Max (I do this DVD often. I’m a big fan of doing cardio and this entire DVD is all about that. There’s a 20 minute Cardio level 1, 10 minute Cardio level 2 and 3 and a 5 minute Warm up and Cool down. I like this DVD because you can customize what you want to do.)

The Biggest Loser - Last Chance Workout (This is a lot like the Cardio Max DVD. It has a 25 minute cardio and strength work out, 10 minute upper body sculpt, 10 minute lower body tone and 5 minute warm up and cool down.)

Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition Workout (You will be getting up and down off of the floor with this one. There are 3 levels to this DVD. Level 1 is 15 minutes, Level 2 is 25 minutes and Level 3 is 30 minutes. They increase with intensity for each level. )

I also have Zumba fitness for the PS3. This can be fun for something different. It doesn’t compare to going to an actual class in my opinion, but it does get your heart rate going and makes you break a sweat. The only thing that’s annoying is that the belt they give you is wicked small so I have to hold the controller the entire time.

Does anyone have any suggestions for anything new or fun that they actually enjoy doing? I am always looking for new things so I don’t get bored. Thanks in advance!

I am a memeber at out local Y. I started out by just using the elliptical, then added weight machines with it. Now I mainly lift weights with a little cardio thrown in at the end. I am now maintaining weight loss and toning.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
