2Wks Post Op Heatoma At Port Site/incision

Recommended Posts

Recovering has been very painful. I started bleeding dark reddish brown blood from a small opening at my port incision the past 2days changing gauze every 3hs. I went to surgeon today where he diagnosed a hematoma there. He squeezed and pushed several cc"s of blood out. He put gauze back on it. I am to keep it clean and dry. He also started an antibiotic for 10 days just in case. If it gets infected the band and port will have to be surgically removed. Ian very worried if anyone has any experience with having a hematoma at port site I would love feedback did it go away? How long?

I have a hematoma at my port scar but I don't have a lapband. I got it after having my gallbladder removed. I was supposed to have my lapband placed but my doctor didnt place it because of the risk of complications. I now have an infection at the hematoma spot and I am on antibiotics for a week. I was supposed to have lapband surgery yesterday after the first time failed because of my gallbladder, but now I have the infected hematoma. :( I hope yours heals soon! Are you cleaning it with anything? Or putting a bandage on it? I'm not sure if I should

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
