thebestmom 1 Posted August 2, 2012 Recovering has been very painful. I started bleeding dark reddish brown blood from a small opening at my port incision the past 2days changing gauze every 3hs. I went to surgeon today where he diagnosed a hematoma there. He squeezed and pushed several cc"s of blood out. He put gauze back on it. I am to keep it clean and dry. He also started an antibiotic for 10 days just in case. If it gets infected the band and port will have to be surgically removed. Ian very worried if anyone has any experience with having a hematoma at port site I would love feedback did it go away? How long? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
newskinnygal 51 Posted August 7, 2012 I have a hematoma at my port scar but I don't have a lapband. I got it after having my gallbladder removed. I was supposed to have my lapband placed but my doctor didnt place it because of the risk of complications. I now have an infection at the hematoma spot and I am on antibiotics for a week. I was supposed to have lapband surgery yesterday after the first time failed because of my gallbladder, but now I have the infected hematoma. I hope yours heals soon!
