Ty for the visual mis73, I had my first stuck episode three nights ago with broccoli, my own fault and wasn't cooked soft enough but even though I take small bites compared to your pic mine are still too big so going to take smaller bites from now on.

Mis73 would you happen to have a blog, if so I'd love to read it.

You might want to use a cocktail fork if you aren't into baby spoons. Cocktail forks hold very little food. I measure my bites by visualizing a pencil eraser. No bigger than that and sometimes, even that gets semi-stuck.

WOW! What great information. Seeing the visual on the amount of food really helps. I am on my 3rd fill and have been having some stuck issues but I think it is because I have been taking too many big bites. Once again I am GRATEFUL for this forum!

Does the stuck feeling have anything to do with me feeling like food is stuck in my throat? I have read on here it is painful, which this experience is kind of, but not that bad. This is new for me so when this happens I run to the bathroom (work in "cubicle world" where you can hear a pin drop sometimes) just in case I'm about to have a problem.

Yes the food feels like the food is sitting in your throat. I also get some chest pain. I have never thrown up which I am thankful for. I know that if I do not eat slowly and take small bites it is a problem.

When I am stuck i feel extreme pressure and pain in my chest. I want to burp alot and have throw up. When you get stuck you will know it!

I find that getting up walking around and putting my hands up on a wall and leaning into the wall really help. Whatever you do, don't drink a thing until it passes! Just makes it worse.

But good news today I ate semi solid food (homemade taco bowl thingy) and did not get stuck my entire meal!!! The heavens rang, the angels sang, it was amazing. I took small bites, chewed alot, and took long breaks between bites. What a relief, this is the first solidish food I've been able to eat without getting stuck since my fill on Monday.

My ahhh moment was when I read that when you are adjusted to the green zone that the opening of the band would be the size of a pencil eraser. wowowowowow. that would explain why we need to chew it up so well.

A pencil eraser?! Wow that's tiny. I am Begining to wonder if I am already pretty close to the green zone. I can not finish a cup of food, And i stay full for hours after. That would be nice, green zone at 2.6 ccs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
