ambertuttle 0 Posted August 2, 2012 Why do we have to have liquid then mushy after a fill?
Krussell19 217 Posted August 2, 2012 because right after a fill your band is tight and if you try to eat solids right away you will most likely stretch your pouch or get something stuck. It needs a few days to adjust to the new restriction that way your not throwing up or heading back to the doc to get an unfill.
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted August 2, 2012 Because when you get a fill, it constricts the stomach and is likely to cause irritation and swelling. Swelling will make the band feel tighter than it actually is and can cause a lot more stuck episodes as well as PBing. Most surgeons do the liquids then mushies/soft food after a fill to give the swelling and irritation time to subside.
Krussell19 217 Posted August 3, 2012 This super thick slimy spit that your mouth excreeds like a fire hose when your stuck. The body doesn't realize your band is the reason your stuck your brain assumes you are choking so it signals your body to make this super thick slick spit to help you remove the object from your throat. meyouus 415 Posted August 3, 2012 Actually, PBing is called Productive Burping. When food comes back into the back of your throat but it doesn't spill out, like throwing up. I know, gross. Sliming is when you are stuck and saliva just seems to be spewing out of your mouth.

Lu_11 52 Posted August 6, 2012 I have slimmed many times... eating too fast or too big of bite. When this happens, I wish I could throw up and be over it. It is weird, just bend over and all the spit goes for ever. My doctor's asst. says it's ok to eat after a fill but I think i will follow the liquids, soft for a few days. Maybe that is why my fills havent helped as much.
jrae 38 Posted August 6, 2012 My old dr said a light meal was fine after a fill BUT he never ever got my fills right. It was a constant struggle of too tight or too loose! After my 4th fill and stuck episode, the nurse said "why are you eating after fill? It's liquid only!". I showed her in the handbook & she was super bitchy about it! My new and awesome dr says liquids only for 48 hours, then mushies for 24. Trust me- follow that rule!
