lapbandkeira 99 Posted August 2, 2012 I was banded on Tuesday and my doctor said I had the worst hernia he has ever seen. This is making recovery worse then had I not had one. I still am holding about 15 pounds of gas that doesnt seem to want to move ;( I've done gas strips, hot tea, walking every 3 hours and heat. Nothing seems to be getting this gas to move. It hurts to take in deep breaths! Any other suggestions on how to get this gas to move...it feels like I have a 15 pound baby rolling around inside of me. 98113 7 Posted August 2, 2012 I was banded a week ago Tues. So 9 days post op. Try sugar free peppermint candies or flavorings in Water. I too had a bad hernia, I was also in & out of hospitals for pain for the 1st 4days. I knew this trick from having a colic baby many years ago. Also hold a pillow to you tummy. Good Luck. Igoback 8 Posted August 2, 2012 I also had a bad hernia. I read on here that the gas in your chest area can't really be helped by anything. I've tried everything and I'm back at work waitressing so I know I'm walking enough!! It's gotten better though. I'm post 9 days and still have shoulder pain and light pain if I breathe very deeply. It'll get better!
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted August 2, 2012 If the gas pain in your stomach, then OTC meds, peppermints, or tea may help. However if it's the gas they pump in during surgery absolutely nothing you can take via mouth will help. That gas is in your abdominal cavity not your digestive system. It has to be reabsorbed by the body which unfortunately takes time. Continuing to walk and use the heating pad is your best choice to help ease it. Good luck. 1 sman342 reacted to this
