Workout Suggestions?

Recommended Posts

I know this will sound silly considering I'm a year+ out of surgery, but does anyone have any suggestions about workout routines? I cannot afford a gym membership which is what I would ultimately like to get at one point. For now however I have to kind of come up with my own routine. What I would like is something to slowly build up my stamina so I could eventually run or when I can afford a membership be able to use the treadmill, elliptical, whatever have you for longer than I could now. We have a pretty decent sized pool, nice yard and nice neighborhood, so walking, jogging, swimming, etc. are all options. I've seen people on-line do routines of like 10 leg-lifts, 50 crunches, 50 push-ups, etc. have any of you tried something like that? Just curious to see what at-home workouts have worked well for you guys!

Hi Olive. Actually I have a gym membership an choose not to use it. I go walking twice a day am/pm a fast paced walk and i also do stair stretches where u stand on a stair with just your toes an raise an lower yourself this is good for the calves an any plantar facitis. I also use bands for my arms. There are videos on youtube for band ideas.

Olive55, my husband got a phone app that is called something like from the couch to 5k. Its a step by step approach to help you work your way up to running a 5k.

I'm sure there are others similar.

When I got started I did anything that would raise my heart rate. Dance in my living room for 20 min... jumping jacks... try doing some stuff with fitness bands for strength training. I had a gym membership for a while and traded it in for at home workout DVD's. Just try to do soemthing more than what you did before and you'll see results. ie. try 20 min of dancing without stopping for a week and the next week try 25 min. Hope that helps

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
