When Do You Start Losing Weight?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I had my band 6/26/12, lost a total of 25 lbs so far. But have been at the same weight for 2 Weeks. I have 5 cc in my band. So back to my question when will the weight start coming off? When I get restriction? Thanks in advance

It all depends on your food choices and exercise. There is not set time for the weight to come off. A lot of people plateau at some point and have to jump start weight loss by changing something up like new exercise routines

I have to agree with the above response. Now that you have lap band, you have to eat right and exercise. I thought the weight would come off better with lap band, but the truth is the only way to lose weight is dieting and exercise. I have had my lap band for 2 1/2 years and the only weight i have lost is the first 25 lbs.

I Agee with with above responses. For me personally, exercise is non negotiable if I expect to lose weight. If you're exercising 5 days a week and still not losing, increase the intensity.

You've lost 25 pounds in a month!!!! You also have 5cc's which is a huge amount of fill for someone at your stage. This is a will power diet until you get restriction. Both for food portions AND food choices.

Ar you exercising? Until I went back to work after being unemployed I was doing up to 2.5 hours 7 days a week and loosing less than a pound a week.

Well first I'm following the diet to the t. I have anxiety about getting stuck so I try my best to follow everything my doctor says, plus I exercise 5 days a week. maybe I'm just anxious. I didn't put this weight on over night so its not coming off over night.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
