phia067 0 Posted August 1, 2012 This is my 6th say post surgery and I have been feeling some discomfort in my chest and stomach. Almost like heart burn feeling in my stomach and my chest it feels like I'm not getting enough air when I breathe. I'm easily winded while doing simple things like taking to my kids. I have a call into the doctor but wondered what others could offer as remedy or advice? I added some extra substance into my Protein Shakes today after reading some posts of others who began solids early(even tho I'm jut adding banana and peanut butter) could this be it? The discomfort has been for maybe a day or two. I've also been having some neck pain. Sorry for the poor grammar and or spelling on my phone until i get my laptop fixed

Sorry for the poor sgrammar and or spelling on my phone until i get my laptop fixed did the dr okay you to add banana or pnut butter?? please note that just because others have added that to their liquid diet does not mean you should. you are still early from surgery. cheating on post op could be dangerous. i am sure you are fine though. just stick to your dr's orders.. please check with your dr in regards to straying off course. . neck/shoulder pain is common. did you have hernia repair by chance? as the days go by, you will start feling better.. phia067 0 Posted August 2, 2012 No doctor doesn't know and I realize now I need to stick to the plan that was given to me. I got this surgery for a reason and my old behaviors are not going to just change themselves. No no never had a hernia repair. This was my first major surgery asides from 2 c sections
Jean McMillan 2,973 Posted August 2, 2012 I agree with CarolinaGirl that you shouldn't be adding foods to your diet just because other members are straying from their post-op eating instructions. I think you need to call your surgeon's office and talk to a nurse or other medical professional about ad-libbing your food and also about the shortness of breath. Narcotic pain meds can depress breathing, but no one here on LBT is qualified to diagnose and treat medical issues. 3 Dawn12, meyouus and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
