Justme9786 50 Posted August 1, 2012 I have a weakness for Cereal, but due to my lactose intolerance its always been "difficult" for me to eat it....or else! Well, I found Organic Valley Fat Free & Lactose Free milk is probably the best I've ever had. It's the closest thing to "real" milk that I've come across. I've tried all the others....skim, soy, almond, etc....I just never felt like any of them tasted like MILK. This one....does! (to me at least) I've actually used it to cook as well and you would have thought I used real milk. Anyways. I love it and thought I'd share. It's a little pricey (4.99 at publix) but worth it to me. Healthier too. :-) http://www.wegmans.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10052&catalogId=10002&productId=708692
Jachut 487 Posted August 1, 2012 I agree - we have different brands here in Australia but I always buy lactose free milk and yogurt rather than soy yogurt or any of the other "milks". I quite like flavoured soy milk occasionally, and I love a dash of soy milk in strong black coffee, I will also opt for a soy cappucino or latte if I fancy frothy coffee (which is not often). But I like cows milk best. Did you know though, you can add drops (Lactaid here) to dairy products, refrigerate for 24 hours and all the lactose will have been broken down by the enzymes and will now be effectively "lactose free". I do this for things like cream cheese or condensed milk that I need to use in recipes. Thats all thats been done to lactose free milk or yogurt - they are REAL dairy, jsut with an enzyme added to predigest the lactose. So they dont taste any different at all. I knew you could do it to milk, but didn't realize you could do it to cream cheese, etc. Thanks for the info! And that's what I like about this milk....is that it IS dairy....its from cows, just has the enzymes added which is why it tastes so real. I'm a vegeterian and eat a lot of organic stuff anyways so i happened to see this in the organic section and have loved it ever since. I may look into doing it on my own though as it may be cheaper....
