I was banded on July 23, I am so happy with my decision!! This may be silly but.....the last few days I have been getting a case of the hiccups several times a day. These episodes are uncomfortable. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, anyone have any advice? Thanks!

i think its somehow tied in with irritation around the band. i know that when i eat too big a mouthful or dont chew enough then i get things like hiccups and sneezes... so i do think its all due to the surgery, that it will pass. Try not to stress over it.

Hello,

I am new to this site and was wondering why I get the hiccups while eating. After reading many posts...I am either eating to big of a bite or over eating. This totally explains why I feel tighteness in my chest and why I get the hung feeling. I am learning everyday with my lapband and it is a difficult task to eat the same way for 30 something years and then you go through a retraining phase with the lapband of how you need to eat today and for the rest of you life. WOW! I've had my band for a couple of months now and after I talk to my doctor on Thursday, he recommended I go to a support group or join a chat forum to help me better understand all the different signs of life with the lapband. I am thankful I join this group.

Hiccups are my soft sign to stop eating...houlder pain says i've eatn too much and too fast as I passed right past the hiccups.

Yes, this is difinately a sign that you've reached your fill. Eat slowly and take small bites, my food is usually cold by the time I'm done - yes, I have at times had to reheat my plate.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
