Hi :)

I was banded July 7th and I too have not had a fill, I am loosing a average of 2lbs every other week. I like you am hungry all the time but Im almost scared to eat to much. Im thinking maybe I'll get a fill the end of Aug? Kinda nervous for that first fill.

Your doing really good, keep it up.

I was banded June 8th dat of surgery I was 304 and currently 265 and my surgeon says I don't need a fill. I lost 27 lbs the first month and and 12lbs in 3 weeks that the average loss per month should be 10 lbs. so since I'm doing really well with diet and exercise I don't need one yet... Just evaluate ur eating and are you exercising and getting enough Water. It all makes a big difference in your weightloss.

My doctor did my first fill 1 month after surgery and then every 2 weeks until I hit the green zone. But from reading, it does seem each doctor has their own method.

But to me, the band is supposed to keep you from being hungry all the time.

I had surgery on June 5, 2012, and didn't get my first fill until July 27. I wanted a fill badly at my first appt., but my surgeon felt like I was doing well on my own. At my second appt, which was a month later, I had gained a pound. I received a 1 1/2 cc fill, which has helped a little.

If your that hungry you should have a fill. That's what determines if you get a fill the hunger. I went months also. I had to ask.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
