Where is your port?

Mine is on my chest - between my collarbone and shoulder, kinda. My incision for my port is right under my arm, and to be honest, it's the one that has given me the most trouble. It's the biggest scar (although I have another one that's almost as big) and in a weird location, I think.

Is everyone's port in a different place or is there a standard port placement? I can barely feel mine when I press around in the area and that makes me wonder how painful it's going to be when I get a fill...

What? It's up that high? Can you see the scar when you wear a tank top? I thought they go in your stomach on one side!

My port is on my upper belly towards my right side, but more centered. It is the biggest and most noticeable scar.

My port scar is also my biggest and took the longest to heal, but they are all fading now, 9 months later. It is located right below my rib cage on my left side. i couldn't feel mine at all when this all started and now, 71 lbs later, I can see the bulge when I lay flat. I've never heard of one that high on the body. Interesting.

Mine is about half way below my left ribcage and about my belly button line. From what I've seen the abdominal placement on either the left or the right seems to be the most common placement. I personally have never heard of a port for the lapband being up so high?

mine is right under my left boob..not really even noticeable.the only thing that had bothered me is my under wire bras After a long time sitting because the wire pushes into the port

Mine is on my left chest/shoulder as well with the scar on the side of my breast/ armpit area. Also my surgeon places ports in this location because they are less likely to flip.

Mine is right above my belly button. Unfortunately I am kinda short (5'2") and every time I lean against my counter tops in the kitchen or the vanity in the bathroom, the port location is the same level. The port area is sore all the time.

On a good note......I only have 2 scars one under my right breast (very tiny) and the other on IN my belly button (you cannot even see it).

Oh wow... That sounds uncomfortable! And I'm so jealous of your 2 scars! I look like I lost a knife fight :( I have 7 incisions! I also had a hiatal hernia repair and my gallbladder out, so that could be part of the reason.

Mine is the same way! If I don't wear low rise jeans they rub against it as well. Especially since I am losing and the fat barrier between my port and the outside world is thinning. =)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
