Recommended Posts

Hello everyone I just been redomended to see a local specialist to begin the band process I and in upstate ny I am wondering for all what is the wait time after getting in touch with them till actual sugery?? I was also wondering what is a fill? Do you actually have a opening or do they go in each time to fill and unfill?? Also does it effect getting pregnant afterwards? Sorry for all the ? Just want to be well informed!

Go to youtube to see a fill administered. It's usually a painless injection into a port that is sewed somewhere inside your abdomen when the lapband is placed. They inject a small amount of saline into the band through the port to squeeze the band tighter so you can't eat as much. In a nutshell.

Your wait time varies with different insurances.for ne it was less than 3 months from 1 St appointment to banded.some insurances make u do a 6 month diet before getting banded it all depends.

There is a pregnancy page on thus site.most people become very fertile after they lose weight with the band.I've heard that during pregnancy they usually unfill you so ur baby can get the nutrition it needs.but there are done who gave stayed filled and still had successful surgery

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
