the following is what I posted on Sunday....

I feel great today. Finally turned that corner.

Yinfec is under control & I can totally sleep on my side now!

Thursday I went to bed (the 1st night I was able to sleep on my side) and I woke up 14 hours later! I needed it.

We have been blessed with BEAUTIFUL GORGEOUS weather today. I'm sitting here at my computer, ate my prune yogurt, drinking my coffee, have the patio door open, birds are chirping, my windchimes are chiming, the smell of burning sage is in the air and all is right with the world. I may even be able to talk DH into walking at the zoo today. Nasvhille has a really beautiful zoo and I have a membership.

I hope no one has been discouraged by my whiny post, I just wanted to be as honest as factual as possible because I like to know what's up before hand.

Now that I'm on the other side of things, I know I've done the right thing and I'm really excited about my future. I have a normal to small sized husband, he married me at almost my top weight, so I'm excited to see where this takes our relationship as we are able to do more outdoor activites together.

OMG Synical!! OWWWWWIIIIEEEEE!!!! How are you feeling now? I hope things are getting better.

You just made me think of another question to ask my doc, does he give ABX post-op? If so, then I'll be buying some pro-biotic stuff (damn the pre-op diet) and getting my scrip for Diflucan.

Having another great day today... This week starts my working full days.. FINALLY. didn't quite make it last week. Been sipping on vanilla chai Protein all a.m. and it's a little after noon and I was hungry so I'm eating my tuna and multigrain crackers. HOLY JEEZ. I'm not restricted really but big bites of tuna are a  NO NO:kiss . I took two large/normal bites with a normal size fork (left kiddie spoons at home) and WHAM:faint: ... kind of very uncomfy. so... must stick with little bites. I have got to get myself trained before the 1st restriction, because as you can see from my previous post.. I REALLY don't care for pain.

Nope, you didn't dicourage me one iota. You helped me plan for a possible painful consequence and for that I thank you immensely! I also married a fairly normal-sized man. I met him about 70lbs smaller than I am now. I honestly don't think he has noticed my gain. I don't think I did, either. Other than the scale creeping when I would get on one. When you are as big as I am, 50lbs doesn't really make a big difference in how I look (other than maybe my face).

We bought a house in the north central part of Michigan a few years ago and I haven't been able to fully enjoy it yet. Hopefully I will be able to start enjoying it. I look forward to swimming upstream in the river for exercise. And tubing down the river without being deathly scared that I can't get back in if I dump it. I want to be able to walk around our private road without getting too tired.

Many outdoorsy things to look forward to!

DH was fairly slim when I met him. He's about 6'5 and wore a 36 pant. Then again -- I have no room to talk. When we first met he would have me put his pants on because he thought it was "cute" how saggy baggy they were on me. :tired

DH gained, I GAINED. Now he's still gaining and I'm losing. I'm pretty sure we're about the same weight now. In fact, I may be under him again. WOW. That hasn't been the case for a LONG time. :clap2:

WOOHOO Wheetsin!!! Goodonya, woman!!!!

On the MD's office paperwork, and at the psych consult they asked what is my goal weight. I listed a few pounds over the Met Life goal in my answer.

My real response is that I want to weigh less than my husband.

Reading your post I realize that with lots of hard work, it *is* possible. Thank you very much for posting that. It made my day!

My DH married me at about 80lbs lighter. Well, after 3kids (including the twin pregnancy) he never said much. He is also gaining, gaining, gaining. He started on WW w/me. He is very supportive. I love him dearly for never saying anything about my ballooning wt.

I am really loving this forum. Its keeps me motivated. Its good to hear about all the stories and support you all are giving.

I don't relly have to much time to get on here often, but I always know that whenever I get depressed or nervous about having the surgery, I can always come and get rejuvinated.

I thank you all for all this info. You just don't know how much this helps me out.:cry My family are not that supportive, but once I come here, I'll be ok...

Keep up the good work...:clap2: Hopefully I'll be able to tell about my experiences of surgery within a month or two.:nervous

Ok guys, Thursday was my one year anniversary, but Sudays are my weigh & picture day, so postponed any updates until today. I'm now officially an 18/20 top and 22 bottom. That's down from a 34+ top & bottom pre-op, and a total loss within a pound or two of 130 lbs.

Here are my progress pics. Note: NO, I don't wear camis alone, only under things but it's one of the only things I could find that's "clingy" and would show my current shape.

Here's how one year with the band changed my life!

Wear the camisole. You look great. Unlike me who has bumpy arms, you are now smooth and trimmed down.

Congratulations isn't enough. I wish I could hug you. I am so happy for you.

How is your walking?

sleeping?

I can't wait to be there.

:clap2: :messenger3::clap2: Today was yet another fabu day. it's about 3:08 and the weather has been perfection except now I believe it's going to start raining.

I still feel sore in the a.m. when I'm getting out of bed but I haven't had to take ibuprophen or ANYthing.. which is HUGE for me. I walked across & back the road to our other building this a.m. (takes me about 5 min.) to the wellness center to get my measurements. She's going to do them once a month for me.

After lunch I walked for about 35 minutes. I can't say this enough.. it is so nice for my lower back to not hurt when I'm walking for more than 2 minutes.

I called to book my 1st appointment for my fill and the earliest they can get me in is march 27. One month to the day. I just hope I can behave long enough to maintain the 20 I have lost if not lose more.

I don't think that I have any restriction, HOWEVER, I am getting full quicker. I think that because of the pre-op diet and the 3-4 days of swelling, what happened is that my stomach has shrunk so the portions I am eating now are what I would consider a 'normal' portion to be. I know if I pushed it I could eat more, but I'm trying real hard to 'listen' and stop when I start feeling a little tight and not drink when I eat and wait an hour after. I sure am burping a lot though. Would I be burping this much with no restriction what so ever? I can drink like normal too.

ANYwho...after walking I get real tender around the port area for some reason. It last about 20 minutes then settles down.

major newbie here...

I am somewhat ignorant of the acronyms used on messageboards...anyone have a second to fill me in on some (like DH - i know it has to do with husbands, but what does it stand for?). If anyone wants to make a quick list and post it, that'd be fabulous...then I can post with all of you professionals :)

hubby and i got plane tickets to Monterrey and have made the deposit on our surgery...scheduled for April 12th with Dr. Rumbaut...excited and nervous. hubby is a bad example...i've really been trying to be good, but he keeps wanting to go out and get "this for the last time" or "that for the last time"...anyone else understand that thought process...I figure if I really start altering my habits now it'll be easier after the surgery...

Oh yeah, one other thing...

Does anyone have problems with itchy rashes under their stomach or underarms or (excuse me guys...) boobs? Is it yeast? If it is, can it be treated with the stuff you use for yeast infections, or should I find some topical cream? Since I've been exercising, I've been showering twice a day and trying to keep dry, but it doesn't seem to be helping very much.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

If it is not yeast you can, dry well after shower (use blow drier-yes even there) and use monistat new chaffing powder/gel. It works for at least 24 hours and is non-greasy after appyling.

I know I have seen an abbriviation post at least once... maybe a search will help you find it...

I now know the DH usualy means darling or da** husband and PB means productive burping.....look for that thread for others-GOOD LUCK!!

My arms are not pretty. The picture is deceiving. They look ok from the side, as along as I keep them down. The undersides are lumpy and saggy. Brachioplasty is definitely in my future. :tired But - you're kind. :)

As for the rash - if it's a full blown rash, it's probably from the friction and salt (sweat). I would suggest making sure you're dry and then dusting with some medicated powder like Mexsana, and applications of hydrocortisone cream. One at night and one in the morning. See how that does you after 4 - 7 days. And preventatively, I would recommend applying deodorant to ALL the places that get sweaty. It's not just for underarms, it's for stopping the sweat and sweat stink. And unfortunately we all know that all sweaty places stink. :rolleyes I still use deodorant under my pannus. I just feel better when I do. And it heeps me from getting any friction rashes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
