Sorry about that... When I said 'graphic' I wasn't kidding, however, if it can prevent one other person from getting one... I'm glad. I think part of the problem was being on pain meds so I didn't notice at first.

OMG!!! Hope you are feeeling better. You had me until raw meat....*dialing doc for advance difulcan prescription*

Just found this thread. This is awesome there is a place on here for those with larger starting numbers.

I was just banded on 2/27 in Kansas City. I a guy and about 5'11" and my highest weight was 400. That is what I was when I went for my first consult in Jan 07 with the Dr.

First post op was today and I have lost 29 so far. 18 of those just since surgery.

Whoever wrote the thing about the egg and mayo and the experience, I was rolling. I am sooooooooooo there with you.

Tina, I have a few things going for me that contributed to my fairly speedy weight loss. First, I'm really short -- not quite 5'2. So 358 lbs was a BMI of 68, which meant my body really didn't want to be that heavy either. Losing weight in the BMIs of 60 was pretty easy for me once I couldn't binge eat anymore due to the band. Second, I'm single and, thus I live alone, which means I don't have to keep anything (food wise) in the house that I don't want in the house and I don't have to cook dinner for anyone but a bandster (me). That cuts out a lot of the daily temptations and helps me keep my calories low. Lastly, I'm otherwise healthy, which means I don't have metabolic challenges (other than the yoyo dieting problems we all have) and I'm physically able to get in a lot of exercise (usually 45 minutes of cardio about 6 times a week).

I joke with some other bandsters that I'd trade their slower loss for a good husband, if they're offering. My single life makes it easier for me to focus on me, and, thus, to lose quicker than average, but that's only the plus side of something that has minuses as well, you know?

You'll get there -- I have NO doubt. Meanwhile, I'm crossing my fingers to hit Onederland this week. That seems SO WEIRD to me. SO WEIRD.

Hello supersizers!!! I have a date set for 4-2-07!!! I am nervous and excited. I start my pre-op diet 3-19-07. Only looking forward to that to get it over with.

wheetsin....looking great:clap2: ....are you feeling great???

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE BEFORE/AFTER PICS IN POSTS!

synicalchick.....NOW I'M SCARED:omg: I've so far been blessed with good "T" cells(says gyn.), and have never experienced a Y. Inf. in all of my 34 years!! But now.........:omg: .What can be done to prevet such an occurance? I would like to avoid that at all cost. :omg: You must have wonderful DH...my DH would not be of any assistance, other than maybe a drive to pharmacy.

I'm not sure what my BMI is exactly ...maybe 58-59??? I'm about 5'6" I can't tell what "build" I am under here....and weighed 367# about a month ago...at docs I weighed in at 357#....the "fitness twig" that assisted me with a workout perscription says I could/should lose about 202# .

I know it may at times be difficult but I will try to be positive, GOOD LUCK AND HEALTH TO ALL!!

HI Everyone,

Julie... can I make you jealous... I know you can take it my friend... I have the 'great husband' and my weight loss has been good (as you know)... but I would trade some of my fast weight loss, for warmer weather (running in -30 is crazy).

To everyone else... it can be done, we are all in this together... the road is long but worthwhile!!

Dawn

banded Arpil 4th, 2006

Montreal

358/195/179 (but I bet I'll want to go lower)

I run because I can!!!

Don't stress over it to much.. to speak with your dr about it. Preventative measures can be taken. If you are allowed on your pre-op, get some pro-biotic active yogurt cultures in your system. I'm guessing at 34 yrs of age never having had one (you lucky thing you) you will not have to deal with it. I think you'll feel better after discussing it with your dr. Since you don't know the starting symptoms... it starts out as a nagging itch that feels REAL good to scratch but doesn't go away. If you catch it in the early stages it's not so bad. I'm reading that not all dr. put you on antibiotics anyway so you'll proabably be fine.

OMG Synical!! OWWWWWIIIIEEEEE!!!! How are you feeling now? I hope things are getting better.

You just made me think of another question to ask my doc, does he give ABX post-op? If so, then I'll be buying some pro-biotic stuff (damn the pre-op diet) and getting my scrip for Diflucan.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
