What Is Going On? Please Advise...

I'm going in for my first fill hopefully at the end of the week or early next week.

I'm nervous about the amount of food I'm eating. I'm eating frequently but it's still small amounts of food. More than a 1/2 cup but less than I used to eat before the band. Is it because my stomach is no longer as swollen as it was when I first was banded? Is there really anything to fear?

I went to a friend's bbq yesterday and found that I was grazing most of the time. I ate some cut up melons (honeydew and watermelon), some goldfish crackers, a few raw broccoli florets, a couple baby carrots, a bbq grilled chicken thigh, one jalapeno sausage wrap with salsa, and a couple spoonfuls of ranch style Beans. (okay writing it out doesn't seem so terrible). And 1 small slice of chocolate cake with a strawberry. Maybe I'm freaking out about all this in vain but I'm still nervous. My friends know that I can't eat like I used to and I didn't for the most part. I think I'm not used to the volume of food being what it was compared to the past couple of weeks post surgery.

Also I'm still finding bread is real hard to get down.

Can someone please clue me in to what's happening?

Wow!! I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks and then a mushy diet for 2 weeks! My filkl was 1 month after surgery! Maybe your is different, but I did not have restriction until my 4th fill and could virtually eat anything but no way as much as before!! Good luck things like this has happened to me and a whole bunch of other people!

You have completed most of your post op healing, and now are able to eat more. It's necessary for you to limit your eating to the number of meals and the size of portions which should have been specified by your surgeon's post op instructions.

Until you have restriction with additional fills, you will likely be able to continue to tolerate most foods, including bread. Just because you can eat it does not mean that you should. Now is the best time to hone your will power and determination to resist eating more often than you have been advised to. I continue to get hungry between meals, but find that I am able to avoid eating between meals by drinking the "free fluids" (FF/SF) that we should be having daily. I keep a bottle of Water with me most all of the time, and sip from it frequently.

I think everyone is alittle different as far as what foods go down easier than others. up unitl thursday I have had no problem with any foods other than the ones that make me gassy. but since thursday omg. My husband had made Breakfast since I had worked nights and he saved me 1 pancake and 1 peice a bacon. well.... needless to say 3 bites of pancake and 2 small bites of the bacon (as I wanted to savor the one peice I was allowing myself) was pure hell. I ended up throwing it all up and dry heaving for a while. This was the first time since surgery (Apr 2,) that I got sick. the previous night at work I was able to tolerate a small salad w/ grilled chicken which went down fine without problems. Wierd. But I was told to avoid all bread, rice and Pasta post op forever. as my neice says it's bc it can get stuck in the "zip tie". just remember to take your time eating, chew, chew and chew some more and it's a huge lifestyle change. One that Im sooooo happy I made! Its a slow process. I know I didnt gain all my weight over night and it's not gonna come off that quick either. Good luck,

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

        Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
