I'm a teacher and had surgery my first day of summer vacation. Surgery Monday, hubby went out of town Wednesday and left me with the kids and by Thursday I was driving myself to run errands. Hardest part was not being able to hold my 4 year old or help her into my elevated bed (that was a b***h for me to climb into already!)

If I had been at work I would have taken at least a week off. I'm constantly moving at work so one week might not have been enough, as I'm a vo-tech teacher and my job is mainly hands on skills.
