Vomiting, Not Pbing

Recommended Posts

Okay, so last night I went out drinking with some friends and I guess I didn't eat enough prior so I woke up with a severe hang over. I even kept really hydrated like I usually do, drank lots of Water while I was having cocktails. But, didn't work I guess. I haven't had one of these since pre-lap band, probably at least 5 years!

The nausea and vomiting lasted ALL DAY....in about 15-30 min intervals. I wanna say I threw up like 15x at least, and on top of that had a splitting headache but couldn't keep anything (even water) down. It was so nasty, yellow bile like since I didn't have anything in my stomach.

It finally went away, FINALLY after a good 7 hrs or so. I'm sipping on ramen noodle Soup, Gatorade and ice pops. Now my throat is KILLING me and my neck is so sore. While I was sipping the ramen noodle soup I ate a little bit of the noodles and didn't have any problems with getting it down so hopefully my band is fine. Just concerned cause I vomited so much. Hopefully if I take it easy on my band for the next few days all will be good.

I apologize, maybe I didn't explain that well...when I said I couldn't keep Water or anything down, I didn't mean it got stuck by the band, I meant I would throw it up because it would make me nauseous within a few minutes of ingesting it. My biggest concern is that I didn't do any damage to the band since I vomited so much. Like slippage or something.

You were lucky that you were able to vomit. I drank too much a couple of months after being banded. Woke up in the middle of the night and tried to make myself vomit as usually that would help to make me feel better quicker. Needless to say i couldn't. It was the most horrible feeling.

The positive part of that is I now try extra hard not to imbibe too much alcohol as I know how awful I will end up feeling.

Hopefully your band is OK> I would baby it for a few days to give it a break and hopefully let it settle.

Ya I think that's why I vomited so many times, because my band would only let a very little bit each time. By far worse than pre-band hangover. Lesson learned.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
