I know this is probably a crazy question but what exactly does being stuck feel like??? I was banded on July 24th and I'm still out of the loop on some of this! On a brighter note I've lost 23.5 pounds since I started my 2 week pre op liquid and 8.5 since the 24th!

here's my both episodes with being stuck so far and I'm 6 weeks post op. Once on chicken and the other on eggs. It hurts like crazy in the center of your chest. I spit up slimy mess and frothy mess, I know gross huh, but that's what goes on. Finally I throw it up, both times. Chicken episode lasted an hr and half and egg lasted only a few mins. Hope this helps...chew chew chew and take small bites, I didn't!!!

I had my surgery on April 16th and have had 3 adjustments. I have had problems with dry chicken, rice and lobster. It feels like a lot of pressure in your chest and it hurts!!! Luckily I have never gotten sick but getting stuck is not a fun feeling at all....

I am so glad to read this. I was wondering if what I am experiencing is "stuck". Feels like a rock on my chest. I feel like I can't breathe as good. So this will pass. It happened after I ate, but an hour later when I started to drink. Obviously I need to fix something so it doesn't happen again - chew slower, drink later, chew smaller, etc. I don't want to ever feel like this again!

Getting stuck sucks. It usually happens only after you've had a couple fills. All I can say is chew chew chew your food and take small bites. When I get stuck, the biggest thing that helps is to stand up, walk around, and take super deep breaths! Also, try and distract yourself as much as possible and tell yourself it will pass, otherwise anxiety will get the best of you.

Thanks so much to all of you! I want to be prepared in every way! I'm also worried about eating in public and sliming?! Doesn't sound real good on either! Lol

I'm 4 1/2 weeks post op and have gotten stuck a couple times. It is extremely painful, so you will know when it happens. I've never thrown up from it, though, probably because I've only got 3.7 ml in my band, so I still have room for it to pass. I haven't encountered the frothiness or slime that others have described yet either but I'm sure I will at some point.

I'm also discovering that certain foods are just no longer possible unless I want pain, so I'm learning what to avoid.

I have had two stuck episodes. I wasnt expecting it since I have only had one fill of 1.5 cc. But it was awful on chicken and turkey

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
