General warning for women

Recommended Posts

:omg: I have been banded for quite some time and started noticing a while back that the 2nd half of my menstrual cycles I would get sick quite a bit more often.:sick When I went to the dr they said, "yes it really was possible to have that happen," and I got an unfill. It helped a ton, but I was still getting sick more often then I should have. I had these symptoms... nausea, fatigue, Constipation, and a bit of a lower back pain. I also noticed my upper legs were sore some times but I'm getting older right. My stomach was tender to the touch, but heck with all the constipation and nausea you would think that would be normal too. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I blamed all these side effects on my band. :hat: If you have weird side effects like mine, please talk to your doctor! I had a 4 lb ovarian cyst. (all the same symptoms as ovarian cancer) These are not symptoms you should just assume are related to your band. If I would have just listened, or talked to other bandsters I would have realized that, but I thought it all had to be normal. Anyway, I'm home recovering from surgery and I can't take those dang 800 mg ibprophin. They won't go down and make me sick, but I'm not worried about that one!

Thanks,

Karen

Wow, a 4 pound cyst?! Holy Moly! So glad you are on the mend. It's always a good idea to check with other bandsters. This board is so wonderful about that.

Watch out for the Ibuprophen, if it sits on your band it can irritate and cause big band problems. Especially the big pills...switch to liquid Ibuprophen if you have to take it, then be sure to wash it through well with lots of Water. And only short term.

(((hugs))) and a speedy recovery!

:hat::eek::) :wow2: A 4lb cyst ?! GEEZ-LOUISE! I'm glad you got that diagnosed and taken care of. I'm not sure if I would have been able to figure out that all the symptoms fell at the last half of my cycle. Bravo to you.

I agree, if you really need the ibuprofen, try the liquid or chewables then drink Water afterwards to flush your pouch. It's a NSAID and can cause irritation to the lining of your stomach, therefore your pouch and lead to big problems with your band.

Good luck to you.

I think this was the easy 4 lbs to loose. The rest of it was harder! ha ha ha, but don't assume icky symptoms are from your band. I know you'll think I'm weird to say this but there was divine influence in me finding this problem so there also must be a reason for me to share the experience. I don't want anyone else to go through it.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
