I'm not yet banded and full of question! I was just wondering what a normal day of your meals is like? What is your favorite thing to eat? How much can you eat? How often do you eat?

Any input is appreciated!! Thanks!

i eat what every other person eats. (meats/fruits/veggies) and Snacks sometimes......but because we (who have WLS) have issues with eating and overeating, and gained weight by eating hte wrong things (high fat/high calorie), myself tries to eat healthy options.

fresh veggies, fresh fruit, lean Protein (no frying, no salt etc).

the band will let you eat whatever you want.

(in small amounts)

you have to decide what to eat and if its good for you.

i eat when i get hungry but never over 1 cup of food total.

Protein first, 4oz, veggies.......and i drink alot of crystal light

and half and half tea....

Well, I have been banded a year. Over time your choices will change - sometimes the band is too tight for salad and other times - no problem.

Here was my day yesterday:

Breakfast - Hot Tea

snack - 1/2 Cliff Bar (Protein bar- looks awful, tastes ok)

lunch - hamburger patty with A1 sauce (to keep it moist)(4 ozs)

2 ozs boiled squash

1/2 Low Fat cheese stick

Snack - SF pudding cup

dinner - 4 ozs tuna salad on a small bed of chopped lettuce with a couple of

grape tomatoes. Plus the other half of my cheese stick

Yep, I don't eat much. Band has been pretty tight lately. I drank 5 bottles of Water, 1 glass of iced tea and 1 small can of diet coke. I have to admit that I did not get all my Protein in yesterday but I will do better today - maybe toss in a Protein shake with unsweetened almond milk.

Don't cry, It isn't all that bad..once you get started - eat what you like and what will go down. I love chicken - sometimes yes, somedays not so much. You have to listen to you band (especially once you start getting fills).

I have lost 104 pounds with about 40 more to go. So, I do like the band. I do eat pizza (I only eat the toppings - no crust). I eat meat Spagetti (no Pasta - just the sauce with cheese on top), nothing fried, but boy can I grill a good sirlon. I eat vegies but I am a picky eater so I am limited there. No Cookies, cakes, pies or candy bars. Even Ice cream is a no no..Will that stuff go down - yep, but that stuff is what made me 268 pounds so I have to pass now and the band helps me that.My doctor says no fruit although I do have a half of an apple sometimes with Peanut Butter on it.

Hope this was some help.

this morning I was rushing out so I had a small carton of blueberries and grabbed a Protein shake (I keep some in the fridge for exactly this reason)

Now for lunch I went to one of those huge salad bar places and got a chicken drumstick, some avocado salad, Brussels sprouts and some rice & Beans... But it's the SMALL container, not the large one like I used to have.

last night for dinner we ate out and I had a cauliflower Soup and ate the rest of my daughter's mac & cheese (didn't feel like paying for two meals)

lately I've been having sushi cravings, but can't do the seaweed so well anymore (gets stuck like a little flap). I usually get 4 pieces of sushi (2 tuna, 1 yellowtail, 1 salmon roe) and have one or two pieces of my daughter's california roll...

yesterday lunch I went to Hale & Hearty and got two small Soups (one creamy, one gazpacho)

Same stuff I had before the band, but less of it. And I seem to have lost my sugar craving for the most part.

My meals are still pretty boring! I'm still trying to get the hang of it. I have 4.5 cc in my 11 cc band and was banded 10 weeks ago.

I start out my morning with a cup of pu-ehr tea. About an hour later, I have Breakfast which is usually 1 egg scrambled and Greek Yogurt, or a packet of oatmeal with some fresh berries.

lunch is usually some sort of Protein, like 2-3 slices of turkey lunchmeat or some tuna mixed with lite mayo. I'll add in a veggie, like the "just for one" carrots or green Beans. If I'm still hungry, I'll have a handful of fresh berries or diced pears.

Mid-afternoon, I'll have a light snack, either a string cheese or a slice of cheese. It's probably not the best for me, but I love cheese it's super filling for me.

dinner I try to eat along with my husband (if he's home) so I'll bake chicken or fish, or throw a turkey burger on the Foreman grill. I'll add in some steamed veggies and fruit.< /p>

I'm my sweet tooth is getting the best of me, I'll have a couple spoonfuls of frozen Greek Yogurt.

Everything I eat is either 1/2 cup, or 2-3 ounces. I'm taking in about 800-900 calories a day, and do an hour of intense cardio that usually burns 300-500 calories depending on what I do.

Just eat what I did before but much less of it and I've cut back on dairy, flour and sugar.

I pretty much just eat what my family eats, just smaller portions.

I could eat tons I'm sure, however I stick to no more than 1 cup of food regardless of how much I could physically eat.

Here's what I'll have today:

Breakfast- Protein shake, 3/4 cup of Cereal with skim milk

Lunch- 1/2 cup of leftover Pasta from last night, 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese

Dinner- Lean Cuisine dinner (kids are all over the place so I'm on my own tonight lol)

Snack- sugar free pudding

In total, my day will be at around 900 calories

Where do you find the frozen Greek yogurt? I'm having a hard time eating the regular Greek yogurt. I've tried different ones.

I don't know if there is a brand that only does frozen greek yogurt, but the other day I saw that there were single serving cups of Oikos greek yogurt in a tray inside the freezer door with the ice cream at the grocery store. I know my kids love it when I freeze their Gogurts, so I assume this would basically be the same? I think I'm going to try it.

I saw in Target and Kroger that Ben and Jerry's makes frozen Greek yogurt...I haven't tried it, nor have I checked the nutrition facts but yeah...that's just what I've seen. Lol

Mon-fri meals usually consist of:

Breakfast: yoghurt & berries, Protein shake

Lunch: tuna/smoked salmon/cheese/eggs/meat as Protein and some vegies, usually salad/raw vegies. Or a Soup or stew left over from dinner. If im Busy at work, a Protein Bar can often satisfy me

Dinner: I'm usually a lot hungrier, Pasta, stirfry, meat/fish and cooked vegies, Soup, omlettes

Snacks usually fruit, hommus, seeds and nuts.

I love sushi, yoghurt and risotto. As a treat an Icecream or a small dark chocolate.

Weekends I'm usually a little more varied, often eating out more.

I can always find something at a restaurant, i tend to focus on good lean protein as a priority, followed by vegies and few carbs. Seafood is usually a easy choice. Just stick to smaller portion sizes and chew very well. When I've been out with others, I've been caught feeling a bit stuck, either too busy talking or eating faster than I would normally if I'm on my own. It serves as a reminder to just eat slowly at my own pace and definitely chew well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
