Mara005 70 Posted July 27, 2012 My surgeon asked me to lose 10 lbs before surgery, my surgery isn't until early Sept. but I'm afraid I can't lose the 10 lbs before then. Has anyone experienced this and what happened? Thanks!
honk 780 Posted July 27, 2012 Personally I think 10 pounds is not bad. I had to loose 35! And yes I did loose it in fact I lost 50.

Sarah72 21 Posted July 27, 2012 I had to lose almost 35 pounds and thought it was going to be impossible. I ended up losing almost 50 by the time I had surgery! 1 erin313 reacted to this
erin313 44 Posted July 27, 2012 I had to do a two week Optifast diet and I lost 15 lbs. you can loose 10 lbs by your surgery!
Jellyfish 17 Posted July 27, 2012 They wanted me to lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I lost all 10 by day 6. They'll probably give you a mostly or completely liquid diet to follow and as long as you stick to it, you should have no problem losing that weight.
2muchfun 8,927 Posted July 27, 2012 You can drop 10-15 lbs in two weeks if you go on a strict low carb diet.
Sojourner 2,446 Posted July 27, 2012 I had to 6 additional pounds to loose before my pre op surgery appointment. I found out about this when I returned home from a cruise...and had 3 weeks to get below the required weight. I went on a low carb, high lean Protein diet, and began walking 4 miles a day. At the end of the 3 weeks, I had lost 12 pounds. The surgeon's office was blunt and to the point; if I was not below their target number for my weight, I would have to have my surgery rescheduled. After over a year of delays, there was no way I was going to let that happen. It's rather amazing what we can accomplish when we have defined goals and the motivation to be successful! Best wishes...you can do this!
Drasan 23 Posted July 28, 2012 I did a little panic eating before surgery and gained weight! My surgeon threatened not to do the surgery unless I lost the weight I gained AND the weight I was supposed to lose. Once I started the liquid diet the weight came off fast. I wouldn't recommend doing what I did.
