Igoback 8 Posted July 26, 2012 I know I'm not getting enough Water, but I don't know how to improve! I was bands on Tuesday. I feel like I drink all day long but today for example I've only had 1 water bottle. I think I'm scared of drinking too fast because before surgery I drank water all day long! Any suggestions? ♕ajtexas♕ 3,771 Posted July 26, 2012 I add lemon to my Water for a little flavor. I also found Arizona brand Ice Tea stixs. They are sugar free, 0 calories and taste good.
nothingwasleft 1 Posted July 26, 2012 It will get better. I had 1 bottle yesterday and today I'm up to 1 1/2 and it's still early. I was banded Minday. Just keep drinking away. My dr said to put flavor in the Water. Makes it easier to go down.
jen_1381 446 Posted July 26, 2012 It's a struggle the first week or so post-op. I always felt full, never thirsty. Just keep your bottle handy and whenever you think of it or look at it, take a drink.
musicgirl713 7 Posted July 26, 2012 You really want to drink as much as possible... I learned the hard way. I was banded a week ago and because of some complications during my surgery my throat was swollen and it was impossible to drink anything. So I didn't. And now I have thrush and I don't WANT to drink anything. Your body depends on food/drink to help maintain its ph and yeast levels so by not drinking, it caused the yeast to grow wild in my mouth. Trust me, you do NOT want this to happen to you! It's quite nasty and makes everything else taste nasty too.
canderson04 17 Posted July 27, 2012 Set a five minute timer and when it goes off take four to five sips. That works for me.
corrykidsmom 4 Posted July 27, 2012 I found I can drink without a problem but learned the hard way and learned no straws. Swallowed air and major gas pain. as long as I take my time to chew, chew, and chew some more I have no issues with food. Ate too fast once and won't do that again!!!!! I just had my 3 rd fill. Was banded April 2nd. Down 31 lbs. have to get back to exercising bc I've slacked off the last couple weeks and can feel it And my weight has stalled. Good luck and hang in there.
