Stuck Pretty Bad

Recommended Posts

I had one time before that I was really stuck and I got through it. I have had little tiny stuck episodes that didn't last long and got through them. But last night I got stuck OK I know I shouldn't have ate it but family was eating Chinese food and I miss it. I ate a wonton with the cream cheese in it. I chewed and chewed and thought I was good to go. I started to feel tightness and thought oh this will pass. So I was going around and cleaning up the house. I realized then I was not good. I had that sharp bad pain then. With my tiny stucks I could take just a couple tiny sips of pineapple juice and I would be fine. After two hrs of my body trying to throw up sweating and just plaining foaming bad my husband said he was taking me to the er. I said no call my sister which she works in the er and she told me to take a couple of sips of pop and the carbination of the pop made me burp majorly and it FINALLY WENT THROUGH! I was exhausted. I wanted to let you all know the tip of the pop to help something go through. I don't drink pop after surgury but if I ever get stuck again I will sip on it to help.

wOW...! Thanks for the tip. Sometimes if I eat to fast or it is just too big of a bite/swallow it doesn't matter how much I chew, It can get stuck.

It has been 2 years since my surgery, I very rarely get stuck anymore and I can eat just about anything. It took me a long time to learn to slow down, and take small bites and make sure it is chewed good enough. Now I hardely even have to think about it, it just seems natural!

Thanks for the tip with the pop! I would have never thought of that. I can eat everything except Chinese takeout..

.that's the only food that I get stuck on and not sure why. I can make Chinese at home and be fine but for some strange reason cannot eat takeout. I suppose that's not such a bad thing though :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
