Recommended Posts

Anyone have issues with diarreah (sorry, hate that word) after surgery when you had gall bladder removed? I am 7 days post op and have had a spell of diarreah at least once per day since surgery. With or without taking in a full liquids it hasnt failed that in some point of the day, it comes and im running for the ladies room. :/

I have my post op appt on Monday the 30th and will ask my dr then, but in the mean time was wondering if anyone else has experienced this??

I did. My gallbladder was removed in Aug. 2011 and I was banded July 22, 2012. For the first 2 weeks I battled upset stomach, but once that stopped it went the other way- now I am having trouble going.

I battled with diarrhea for a few years after having my gallbladder out. Fibre seems to help.

I had my gallbladder out when I was banded a week ago and it took a couple of days but the diarrhea finally kicked in. I asked at my post op appointment and my doc said to expect it for 2-3 months. Oddly though, since I talked to him on Tues I haven't had any. At that appt I was graduated to full liquids so I thought with drinking milk and creamed based Soups that my diarrhea would be out of control but it seems to be okay. My doc recommended taking Immodium, but I lived on that before my surgery so I was used to taking it. Take one before you eat and then another if you have the upset stomach.

I hope it gets better for you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
