Why Does Your Fluxuate Even Youre Doing Everything Right?!

Recommended Posts

I notice I'm starting to get into a pattern: I won't lose for a long time, then I'll lose 1-2 pounds in a month, then i really good and I'll lose 6-7 in two weeks ago. Then back to nothing! I don't get it. I count calories, stay under my calorie limit, exercise and STILL same pattern. Both my doc and I feel that I'm in the green zone:) what's the deal ! It's even gotten so frustrating to my doc that she's thinking of having me increase my calories:( this sucks

Your body gets used to what you are doing both in terms of feeding and working it. It becomes more efficient at working so you need to work even harder to burn off those calories.

Encountering a weight loss plateau is frustrating...and breaking through a weight loss plateau is doable.

I've read that some have done it by changing up the number of calories they have (usually raising the number) for a day, then going back to the number they had been having before. Also, change the type and rate of exercise helps to get your body out of it's predictable routines.

Best wishes...been there, done that!

I find when I hit a plateau, I increase my calories by a lot for a day, then drop down low the next, then finish the week at my usual amount.

For instance:

Day 1: 1400 calories

Day 2: 800 calories

Days 3-7: 900-1000 calories a day (this is my usual amount a day)

I did this the last two plateaus and both times it broke the plateau.

As the previous posters stated, your body gets used to your routine and gets more efficient. Plus, it's programmed to resist weight loss, so sometimes confusing it with a big calorie fluctuation is enough to kick the metabolism into activity again.
