crickee 85 Posted July 24, 2012 I think I just found a comorbidity for me. I have been taking diuretics almost daily for 6 years since a complete hysterectomy w/o ovaries. My feet and ankles will swell abnormally several times a year even with the diuretics. I always felt there was a weight connection with this. I'm in month 2 of a 3 month supervised diet for insurance and haven't had my first appt. with my surgeon yet. I am just over the 40 bmi and am concerned if I lose too much, I will be below the 40 mark. I am going to ask the surgeon office about this. Any advice??? papoose 48 Posted July 24, 2012 I have Lymphdema in my right leg. I had a blood clot in my leg over 30 years ago. There is no clot as of now, but I still have the swelling. I have lost 130 lbs. It went down for a few weeks, but it is swollen again. I think mainly because of the heat. I live in NJ. So we have been having a lot of heatwaves this summer. I am also on 25mg. Water pill and still swollen. I have had a doppler study this year and there are no blood clots. So I can't tell you if your leg will go down or not. I do notice it is not as swollen as it was before I lost weight. But still considerably swollen compared to my left leg. Good luck on your journey.
Nacol 76 Posted July 24, 2012 I have it in both legs. I'm not taking Water pills as the Dr said it wouldn't work n was proven before the diagnosis. I've been concerned about lymphedema n the lap band. Glad to hear it won't impact weight loss...
Jim1967 3,569 Posted July 25, 2012 I have it in both legs but the left is the worse of the two. I broke my left leg so it swells up pretty good through out the day. I tried diuretics for about 6 months and didn't help. As I lose weight the swelling is not as bad but I have a long way to go yet to see if any positive effects last. 1 Nacol reacted to this
