Deana01 23 Posted July 24, 2012 Can anyone else feel there band. I notice after i have my liquids i can feel my band get tighter. Plus i can actually feel it through my stomach. It gets hard there like a baby's butt pushing when your pregnant. Is this normal. It doesn't hurt just feel pressure. It's kinda cool actually. And i can feel my port now. I still have cushin now what is it going to be like when i do get skinny.
RachelC 15 Posted July 24, 2012 I haven't had surgery yet but I'm so curious about the port! At the seminar I attended, they had a previous patient who was banded and she was walking around letting people feel her port. I didn't get the chance to, but I was a little surprised that you can actually feel it through your skin. Is it visible?
Deana01 23 Posted July 24, 2012 no not visible. But it is just under the skin. All it feels like is a hard bump under your skin. You can feel the shape of it completly. i just find it weird i can feel the band itself
Short and Chunky 230 Posted July 24, 2012 I can't see my port but I can feel it. I was banded July 2011 and have lost 104 pounds so far. It is kind of neat feeling. As for feeling my band - yep, I can feel cool liquids go through my esphogus and in to the stoma - and sometimes I can feel it go on into the stomach itself. Yes, there are times when it does feel like being pregnant (although not one of my more enjoyable experiences - being pg did not agree with me - threw up for 9 months both times). Good luck with your bands and enjoy this ride. Melinda in Florida
jen_1381 446 Posted July 24, 2012 My port is becoming more visible/palpable as I keep losing the lbs. Once I hit goal, depending on how it really looks, I think I may consider revising to the low profile port. I've never been able to physically feel my band though. ☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted July 24, 2012 i cant see the port, but can feel where its located and that its (harder) in the area its at. not to worry. i assume its normal. and the band, i dont think anyone can (truly feel it). you may feel food moving down your throat and into stomach but not feel the actual plastic band. (but could be wrong)..
Deana01 23 Posted July 24, 2012 so you can't feel it by pushing on that area of the abdomen. what is that hard thing under my left side ribs.
jen_1381 446 Posted July 24, 2012 Could that be your port? It's a hard, roundish type lump. Have you gotten a fill yet? Surgeons seem to all differ in where they place the ports. Mine is on my right side just below my rib cage.
#MagicWithinme 173 Posted July 24, 2012 mine is visible , scared me first time I looked down and saw it, looks like size of golf ball, some are more prominent than others. Doctor said it was fine, it's just the placement of port. You can eventually get port moved if it bugs too much
Jean McMillan 2,973 Posted July 24, 2012 I don't think the hard thing under the ribs on your left side is your band. Could be your port, or scar tissue. The band is on the upper part of the stomach, which is in the area of your chest, approximately midway between your breasts but slightly more to the left than the right. I could never feel my band, per se, though I could feel foods and liquids moving through my stoma from time to time. After I lost some weight, I could feel my port by pressing on the abdomen in the area near my biggest incision (on my right side, about at waist level). I could also feel my port sometimes when I bent at the waist, did abdominal exercises, or bumped into to kitchen counter. 1 tonyann reacted to this
