Mellissa 22 Posted July 24, 2012 I had my surgery June 29 and can still feel the port under my skin. Some days it is less noticeable. Any idea how long it takes to heal, or will my port always feel like that? Thanks
NWgirl 574 Posted July 24, 2012 When you say feel, do you mean painfully or you are aware it is there?
Mellissa 22 Posted July 24, 2012 No pain, just aware it is there. The other incisions healed perfectly. I'm guessing it takes time for swelling to go down under the skin?
NWgirl 574 Posted July 24, 2012 Mine seemed to go away within the first few weeks. I know some people can feel the port more than others. Have you been exercising? Maybe your abdominal wall is sore and you are feeling everything a wee bit more?
Mellissa 22 Posted July 24, 2012 Just started exercising today, nothing strenuous. Maybe it is just taking its time to heal, I guess if it's not sore, then I should be ok!! Thanks so much for the replies!! I appreciate it! 1 NWgirl reacted to this
marfar7 1,533 Posted July 24, 2012 Im 3 yrs post op. My port could be felt with some prodding when I weighed 250. Now, it looks like an alien. U can totally see it protruding. Good luck Marci
SageTracey 608 Posted July 24, 2012 Your port doesn't need to heal. It is a part of the overall band that will always be there. I could feel mine from day one, although it is somewhat more prominent now!
lucky2bLAURA 31 Posted July 24, 2012 My incsision is still healing and I was banded on June 5th. The other day the last stitch finally came to the surface, so maybe it will finally heal now. I've been cleaning it and putting neosporin on it all the time, but that one little spot just would not heal. But I can feel my port if I press in, and sometimes when I sit down I can feel my pants press into it, but I just re-adjust my waistband and it's better. luv80s 8 Posted August 6, 2012 I'm hoping mine goes down a little because its right where the underwire to my bra is. Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions?
