I am 2 1/2 mos post band. I have had a two fills with a total of 3 cc in my band. I sometimes get a sharp tearing or cutting feeling right where i expect my band to be on one side. Its not there all the time and seems to be there more after i eat then any other time. Its also tonight it notice seems to be slightly relieved with burbing. I am wondering has anyone else experienced this pain and what it might be....

gallbladder possibly? I would recommend seeing your surgeon to rule out what it could be.

wrong side of the abd for gb its more on the left side of my band. Not there all the time. i see my surgeon on the 16th if it gets worse or does not get better then i am going to discuss it with him. Just was hoping maybe someone else had felt the same thing.

For what it is worth....I just went to the ER 1.5 months ago with abdominal pain. Since no one knew what it was....they wanted to rule our heart problems.

In short....they found stones in my gall bladder...and the pain was RIGHT SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE OF MY STOMACH. Instead of surgery...I was very thankful for a natural cure of Olive Oil and Lemon juice...and sure enough.....these tiny green gall bladder stones came out in my stool.

Not saying this is your gallbladder....but don't rule out gall bladder if its not on the right side of your stomach as it doesn't have to be there..

I get those pains too usually when i eat too fast. I dont get it while eating i get them after i am done eating. I was told that the band expands and hits our wall so that it what usually causes the pain. It's like swollen of the band line ;0

Pinkygirl Ty .. I sorta thought that was it. It seems to be if i eat to much or to fast that i get them. I am an RN and had ruled out gallbladder myself. Seems i have not had the pains in a few days. Trying real hard to slow down take my time and do this right to prevent the pain. The night i wrote this i was having them pretty bad and was scared i had messed up my band...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
