I had my lap band in 2009. I lost 49 pounds and gained 20 of it back. So here I am back to get on the band wagon. My first day on the diet again. The sweet cravings are my hardest part. I have PCOS and Celiac Disease. So I have diet restrictions. Wish me luck. PLEASE send me links to progress. I need to be motivated.

Good luck, and congrats on getting back on the bandwagon!!

I've only been banded 10 weeks but I feel like I'm finally in a good routine with food. My brain won the battle over my stomach as far as cravings go, but when the rare craving comes along (which is usually for ice cream) and won't go away, I find that just a spoon or two of frozen greek yogurt does the trick. I still struggle with the salt cravings (pre-op I would eat 3-4 pickles a day!) but find that if I just have a very small amount of what my body thinks it HAS to have, and couple it with some exercise, the craving passes. Huge accomplishment considering I used to indulge every craving - - and a lot of it - - whenever I wanted.

Good luck again, and know you are not alone in your journey!

I went to the nutritionist and she gave me the 6 month lap band diet. Which I already had. It is really hard to wrap my head around such small portions again. I was not eating a lot before. It is just mind over restrictions. Just not the right things before. Scorrea instead of toast I eat a GF waffle - better then GF toast. ; )

What have you found out? Staying motivated is the hardest part for me ; )

Hi, if I want GF toast or bread, I actually really like Udi's. I really try to stay away from carby foods though. Not a Pasta eater anyway... its hardest for me to Portion Control at this point. my food choices are not always great either, but I eat fast and eat too much at a sitting! I have such a hard time with this! I have to work hard at thinking about my food. Tonight I got up and left the table b/c I was not hungry anymore, but I wanted to keep eating! Ugh!

Did you get something like this?

It took me along to not eat for my head. I wanted tubs of guacamole and pints of ice cream. I am better after a year. But somedays are so hard. I take Cymbalta for Major Depression and Fibromylagia. It helps also with wanting everything in the cub board. It is mindful eating....http://www.tcme.org/

The carb is what fills you up. Qunioa is a good Protein choice also.

I have not tried this yet:

Because you are just coming back to the diet, start paying attention to when your body is really, physically hungry. I would recommend eating only when hungry and at the same time, paying very close attention and listening to when your body is satisfied and not full.

Take it one day at a time and it will come :)

No, I did not receive any diet instructions, my nutrionist was not very good. I think the thought of Celiac spooked her a bit. I will try what you just gave me. I just wanted to see what some other people ate too, I know I will be better when I have the exact diet down... and also a fill, I havent even had one yet.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
