Finally Have My Surgery Date!

Recommended Posts

Although my appt is September 25th I am anxious and nervous. More excited of course. I am ready to change my life and become healthy and happy. I wonder how many fills it took for everyone to get there band right for them. I am concerned I'll have to keep going back and wont lose the amount of weight. Also there are worries that I'll need to change my ways of eating. I'll need to Basically be on a diet of Protein and low sugar foods. I know drink mostly Water. I heard its ok to drink sport drinks like Powerade or Gatorade okay? Or juice like Snapple or just strictly water? Because I have a real hard time drinking just water! I may get a food list I can use but what does everyone eat that is helpful?? Since I'm posting this in pre-op surgery people haven't had surgery yet maybe some people know what's best to eat?

Buy some Crystal light flavors to use with Water. I freeze the water and Crystal light in the freezer and it comes out like a snow cone texture. You feel like you are eating ice cream. Congratulations on your date! Mine is Aug 6.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
