I had always read on the forums about sliming and really did not know what it really was.....until today. Had a really bad stuck episode and yep, I had slime.

My question is: "Why" do we slime? Before this surgery I had never had that slime feeling in my mouth, even when I was about to get sick. So why now after surgery?

The reason for the slime is that your body is producing excess saliva to try to help the stuck item slide down. The reason this didn't happen when you were sick previously is because there was nothing stuck that your body needed to move. You were sick probably because of a stomach bug or something you ate or drank disagreed with you. You were being sick from your stomach now you are bringing it back up from the band, it hasn't reached your stomach yet, technically you are not really vomiting it up.

this is right. I have a story to tell as well... this just goes to show that you can never be complacent about how you eat when out somewhere. Yesterday, saturday, i was in the city with my youngest daughter at a christian convention. About 70 people, at least i would say. My daughter was asked at the last moment to organize the kitchen for the day, as all food and drinks were provided. I helped out in the kitchen when i wasnt in the main room with the convention. Well.... we had an incident with an oven that was playing up... slightly overcooked some savoury food. I tried to save as much as possible.. there was a choice piece i thought i would eat instead of it going in the bin. Guess what happened?? you guessed it... lol.. i got stuck. BOY !!! ( i didnt chew enough....) did I what!! then, for the next four hours i was a miserable wreck. in and out of the ladies loo like you wouldnt believe. Sliming constantly.. couldnt bring up anything more than that. I felt so awful. I couldnt eat any tea either about 6 hours later)... not even Soup. i hardly drank all day . Over night it all settled down completely and this morning i had soup for brekky.... so thats me... i should have known. NEVER EAT FOOD ON THE RUN... ESPECIALLY WHEN DISTRACTED... AS I WAS !! lol. judych

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
