I'm not sure what your dr. told you to expect but mine was very clear that the weight loss comes after you get into the green zone - which is after some fills. They talked about I'd lose some weight with the pre and post op diets but it's more about the shock to your body than it is about actual changes, at least that's what I understand. I've lost 20 pounds so I started. I was banded the 29th. My dr. was very pleased with my loss at my two week follow up but also told me again that this part of the journey is the "healing" part and NOT to expect weight loss. I think we all get it in our head that this is a magical tool. It isn't. And it's not gastric bypass which has a lot faster rate too. We're supposed to expect 1-2 pounds loss a week and that's AFTER we're in the green zone. I'm there with you, please don't think I'm ragging on you - I made the mistake of weighing myself and I'm the exact same as last week. Don't know if I go up and down or not 'cause I don't do it daily BUT I've been discouraged ever since. Telling you what I tell myself and everyone else - don't give up and IT WILL COME. Hang in there. Stop weighing yourself. Stop obsessing (if you can, I know we all do). And heal - and after a fill or two or three, we'll all start seeing it slip away. If we do this right, it WILL work. Good luck.

I am 3 years out and i find that right before i drop 5-6 pounds i gain a pound or two THEN drop the 5-6 pounds. Please keep in mind that you are only 2 weeks post op and this is your period of healing take it as just that! If you drop weight fabulous if u dont dont beat yourself up over it!

If you're expecting to lose 13 pounds a week you will be very disappointed. The 13lb difference in your scale from one week was most likely Water weight which can change daily. Don't be discouraged about the 3-4lb change on the scale. If you follow your dr's diet plan you WILL lose weight, just not as quickly as you would like. Hang in there and remember that band patients are expected to lose 1-2lbs per week IF they follow their diet plans. Good luck!!!

Thanks everyone not expecting to lose 13pounds a week but I'm just hoping to still see at least a pound or two come off. I guess just overwhelmed and I guess just overwhelmed and over excited

you are still healing after surgery. major surgery. instead of being so focused on losing weight, concern yourself with healing. it will start, losing weight, with fills and with your eating habits (smaller amounts). all the best.

You will hit many, many plateaus in this journey. 1-2lbs a week of weight loss is what is expected and accepted. Your body will come to a standstill at many points in this journey. Just keep doing what you are supposed to be doing and exercising and the plateaus will break.

Hi I've been banded 4 years and got really serious 14 mos ago and I'm started losing the 6-10 lbs per mo. Emotionally has been saying goodbye to what I thought I need to eat to be healthy. Having friends tell you that your not eating enough. Ughhh. The Water thing is a challenge try drinking in the morning when u wake up something warm seemed to help me. Protien drinks will be your friend. I use optimum 26 grams per scoop I order it on Amazon I drink up to 3 scoops per day. They mix easy in water. You are going to do Great keep posting. A Good support group is a Must!

This is no easy battle...the weight wasn't put on over night and will not come off that quickly either. You're only 2 weeks post op and from what it sounds, haven't even had your first fill yet. Once you start playing around with fills is when more weight loss starts to happen. Give it time and work with your band. Eat healthy and exercise if you can.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
