diarrhea. hell yes. I had a one week liquid diet (3 shakes a day and that was it!). I was a complete moody b!tch, ran to the bathroom every 5 seconds....but you know what? Once I got that band in me, I forgot all about it. You might ask the doc about some chewable Fiber pills - it might help, but be careful because you don't want the opposite problem. Also, just as a side note, make SURE to get stool softeners from the drug store for post op. The liquid pain meds were so constipating even though I only used them for two days. You'll thank me. I also was glad to have Biotene mouth spray (found with toothpaste and mouthwash) post op. Lots of issues with dry mouth and that stuff was great. Very gentle mint flavor, not overpowering. Best of luck :)

Justathing2me' date=' how does the Optifast compare in taste to say slimfast? Optifast is what my doctor will have me on and I'm concerned about how it will taste.[/quote']

I'm a big fan of the strawberry personally. I have been on the Optifast for 3 days now and my surgery is scheduled for Aug 3

I found that if I don't drink fluids in between shakes then I feel really bad and I feel much better with plenty of Water in between shakes. My doc said it was fine for me to also drink non caloric drinks which keeps me from being sick of water.

My drinks are pre made in little boxes. I just shake them a lot then drink it pretty quick. I did try to freeze some today, I will check later to see if it helps. My mother in law bought me a snow cone maker to see if that helps me also..... maybe changing the texture will help.

I do try to eat a Jello or drink some broth or crystal light after my shake, to get the taste out. Tonight I kind of got full on the liquids.< /p>

Of course I have only had 4 today, still have 2 more I am Supposed to drink. But I really don't feel hungry for it. I am worried about not getting calories and not losing weight.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
