Lap Bands And Fills

Recommended Posts

I have a 14cc Allergen band.

I have noticed many people w/different sizes and (Realize vs Allergen).

Is there a big difference between the two?

I noticed also that some (women) did not get the size band I did and nor some men.

Is there a difference as to why I got a 14cc band? I asked my surgeon was it due to my (size) and he said no. I cant recall what else he said as it was I asked him the day I came out of surgery and well, I was just ((happy)).

Also, just read about maxing out a band, does that happen? Do doctors fill

in a band (completely)?

Just curious.

Thanks if you answer or respond.

Carolina, that is a good question, can't wait to hear some of the responds. I am not banded yet so I have no clue what size band I will have until surgery is done. I am wondering maybe the surgeons measure the diameter of the stomache then deciding on which size band to use. I am just taking a guess on this one, so don't quote me. If thats the case, I maybe getting a larger size band too which I wouldn't have a problem with as long as they put the right one in me, LOLOLOL.

Hey all!!

I got a 10cc Realize band. I asked the Doc why there are different sizes and whyi got a 10cc. He basically explained it was about our anatomy. Larger stomach, larger band. As far as the manufacturers, there are different ones that doctors use. I know my doc utilizes realize versus allergen. I guess it's dependent on the doc!! I don't foresee seeing one being better than the other, just different brand of the same product!!

5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs)

The realized band take more to fill and reach restriction while the Lapband takes less fills less time to get restriction! My Dr told me just yesterday that the Lapband is better (allergen)

I have a 14cc Realize band. And about 6 mths ago (before my slip and unfill), the PA filled me to 10cc and said I was maxed out. Didn't believe him, as I've heard that the bands hold more than they're sposed to. But when he injected the saline, the syringe pushed against him, like there was too much Fluid in there. He said from now on, it was up to me. My band has done it's job. Unless I lose a ton more weight and make the band too loose that it'll hold more. At the time, I only had 11 lbs to go. After being unfilled because of a slip, I've gained about 8 lbs, so I'm about 19 lbs from goal.

No clue why he gave me a 14cc vs a 10cc. He didn't tell me.

Hope that answered your ?

Marci

I asked my surgeon and I have a 14cc band because my stomach is shorter and wider. He told me someone with a skinnier longer stomach would most likely get a 10 cc band.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
