Can someone explain this. I read if you eat to many gems of sugar you may " dump". Is that also with lapband or just other wls

I believe it's only with bypass, and maybe the sleeve, but not the band.

Basically the sugar goes straight to your intestinal track instead of being processed through your stomach and you can get very sick - headache, nausea, dizzy, etc. Such a reaction that most people cut out sweets completely if they trigger the dumping syndrome.

I was told that it is extremely rare to happen with the band, it's most common with bypass and has been known to happen with the sleeve.

Supposedly not with the band, but...... I had and interesting experience after a DQ rootbeer float one day.

LOL... never again!

Shouldn't happen with the band because our intestines are not re-routed. Usually only occurs with bypass since the intestines are rerouted shortening the time it takes for undigested food to pass into the small intestines.

It did happen to me a few weeks after being banded, but only that one time in 3 years.

I have dumping with greasy foods, but that's from having IBS, not the band.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
