Mine have not been easy- my port sits weird so it took about four fills for them to figure the best way to approach my port. Now I am in and out in minutes :).

Think it is one of those learning things for each, my nurse explained to me how it sit and how they have to go at the port incase someone else besides her has to do the fill.

Also a good thing to know if you have anything special about your port.

Maybe my Dr. Is the odd ball! He always gives me a numbing shot which doesn't hurt at all' date=' and then he fills! He always has me lie on my back on the exam table with a pillow under my lumbar region. I've only had 2 fills, but both were a breez! Maybe try a different position or ask for some numbing stuff.[/quote']

My surgeon does exactly the same type of procedure, never has missed my port it's easy, wrote a prescription for lidocaine 30 min before my fill.

Sorry about the pain you had. I have had 2 fills with no numbing. My doc got it on the first try both times. No pain at all. I love my surgeon!

I personally have only had great experiences with my surgeon. I always do it standing and he hits it the first time every time. I have heard of people having issues if they carry a lot of weight in their abdomen...it makes a larger amount of space between the area that your port is attached and the surface of your skin. I think it will definitely get better as you lose weight.

Goodness. I am so sorry you had such a bad experience on your first fill. I was banded on 5/23 and just got my first fill on 7/17. It was painless. I'm not even sure they used a numbing agent but I am going to assume they did since I didn't feel a thing. Be sure to ask questions and let them know you want to avoid another horrible experience. You are in charge.

This is not good news. I have my fill on the 26th for the first time. Some people say it hurts, others say its worth the pain and then there's the "I didn't feel a thing" people. I'm hoping to be with the latter.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
