Sombra1718 55 Posted July 18, 2012 So I haven't had a regular period in years and for most of that time they were nonexsistant. But now with my weight loss I started a very lite period oh about two months ago and now in the past three days it is out of control. I have never had cramps or back pain like this and never ever so heavy. I haven't dealt with this in years and it's kinda freaking me out. Is this something that happens often with the weight loss? BellaMomma 14 Posted July 19, 2012 I had my first period after surgery was normal and then the next one last longer and was heavy. Not sure if this was due to the surgery or just my body adjusting to the weight loss. I think it is normal to have bad periods after the surgery but I don't think you should expect it to stay that way. If it goes on to long I would talk to your OB/GYN about it to make sure something else isn't going on.
auntielle 42 Posted July 19, 2012 First, as stated above, it's always a good idea to check with your doctors. Personally, I have been going through menopause for a couple of years. (or perimenopause). Anyway, I had been having about 4 periods a year. I started one day after surgery & then went back to every 2-3 months. Surgery was 9/7/11. Then this spring I started having more regular periods for a few months. I'm down 92 lbs. I had heard that estrogen can be stored in fat. So I was thinking that since I was losing it was being released. I did mention it to my surgeon and he agreed (however he may have just not disagreed). Now it's been a couple of months without a period so I'm hopeful it doesn't come back. After 40 years of every 3-4 weeks, it's a welcome change. All the best!
