Kelseymeister 1 Posted July 18, 2012 Hello all, I was banded on 7/13/2012 and am concerned about possible scarring, as I tend to scar fairly easily. Any advice or personal stories on how to/you avoided scarring? Also....when can I begin these methods...week 2, 3? Any response would be greatly appreciated!! mariamaria1070 21 Posted July 18, 2012 I read on here about Vitamin E Skin Oil, they sell at Walmart for like $4. I was just banded yesterday but don't think I can start using it until my bandage strips fall off. I will ask for sure at my follow up on Tuesday, hope this helps! 1 Kelseymeister reacted to this

Kalipso2 25 Posted July 18, 2012 i'm with maegan... i like my scars. the only one you can still see is the one where my port is. it's raised up a little but since i can wear a bikini this summer (woot! woot!) everything tanned up very nice. 2 SusieSunshine and maegan reacted to this
Chrysta 4 Posted July 18, 2012 Hi Kelsey, I started using Mederma the minute my steri-strips fell off. I am almost 7 months out and you can't see my scars if you are standing more than 5 feet away from me. I have VERY fair skin so I was totally surprised at how well the Mederma worked. My husband was banded after me and he generally forgets to use the Mederma so his scars are not as "pretty" as mine. LOL Welcome to the bandster club! Good luck on your journey!! highland 168 Posted July 18, 2012 I'm a year out and I couldn't find my incision sites if I tried! I really wouldn't worry about it. I always figured it was better than my big ole stomach anyay!!! If you scar easiy the above mentioned vit. E oil is what my plastic surgeon reccommened after my BR and TT.
jen_1381 446 Posted July 18, 2012 I've used Mederma in the past and had good results. Eventually though, after 2 laparotomies, a robot hysterectomy, gallbladder, and now lap band, I've given up on making them fade. My stomach looks like a road map of scars, but I've known for a while now my stomach will never be bikini-ready So I just let it go....

armymom2012 51 Posted July 18, 2012 I used Maderma after a C-section and you can't see my scar at all. I am now using it for lap band scars, so far it looks pretty good:)

LadyBC 22 Posted July 19, 2012 I've used in the past and now again for my lap band scars something called scar guard. You can get it at Walgreens and its around 30. Works well!
