New Guy In The Group !!!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone !

It's great to find this site, to share good and bad expreriences, but that's what support means. :)

I'm scheduled to have my surgery this Monday July 23rd, 2012 and even though I am a little worried about the challenges ahead I am also very excited about the positive turn that my life is gonna take.

I hope we can share our journeys together.

Good Luck! I just had my surgery Monday and am having few problems and just some soreness around my naval area where I have two incisions. Otherwise, feeling good now the surgery is over. Its going to be so worth it, a new life, a new outlook, better health... it's all good and worth just a few days of discomfort, this is a great tool to help us with Portion Control and the decision on what to put into our bodies from this point forward,

Keep us informed on how you are doing!

Hi Guys.

So I had my surgery yesterday and everything went great! better than expected, I'm in a lot less pain that I thought I was gonna be. Of course I'm taking percocet so that helps a lot. tomorrow I'm going back to work :)

congrats Cooper! Good Luck on your journey. I lost 15lbs between my preop diet and the first month post op. I got my first fill 5 weeks after i was banded. My first fill I was given 3cc's. I started to feel some restriction 3 days after getting my fill.

Sorry, I didn't see this post til now! Happy your surgery went well. Pain meds are a beautiful thing! Haha. I love my band and am pretty much used to it now. I have good restriction quicker than most, am exercising, sticking to small portions, have more energy and am losing at a good pace for me. I have some days I forget I even have it, and other days are harder. The hardest thing for me is having to plan all my meals and not having the freedom to eat whatever. I am still trying to find my groove as far as eating schedule, but i hear it gets easier in time. Also if I'm not careful the Constipation is a nightmare!! A lot of Bandsters deal w/ it so remember to drink tons of Water. Still, I would do this again in a heartbeat because I feel the best I ever have. It just becomes a way of life. :)

thanks for the replies guys!

I'm on my fourth day post-op and I'm on full liquids, which means I don't feel as weak as before it's good to have

some nutrients. I still don't feel like myself, a little nauseus but the pain is minimal (Percocet rules!! :).

I haven't weighted myself yet. I have an appointmentent this monday, so I'll find out then, I'll let you know

Have a great weekend !!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
