Rx Medications And Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

I want to remind everyone that it is important to have your personal physician monitor your medications as you travel this new journey.

On 7/11 my husband passed out and fell hitting his head. After a trip to the ER; we learned that he was dehydrated severely.

The problem was he was till taking the dosage of BP med and Fluid med were fine when he weighed 325.....but now at 221....the meds were TOO much. Medication readjusted; and a new family doctor has been choose.

Yep; my honey has lost 104 since 11/29/11. So very proud of him. ME ? Well I'm still puttin along..slow but steady...88 pounds since 11/30/12.

Please stay on top of this issue. We have all worked so hard to be in better health, don't let a situation like this TAKE YOU OUT.

Great tip. I had surgery when I was 240 lbs two years ago, then lost 55 lbs and had a gallbladder attack - so surgery again - and the anesthesiologist (whom I knew from working together) said "last time you did so well, we'll just do that again". I didn't even THINK to point out that I had lost 55 lbs since my last surgery. I was SNOCKERED from the anesthesia, worse than I ever had been with other surgeries. The whole day is gone to me, and it was just an outpatient quick thing.

Your weight, especially fat cells, have a lot to do with how your body processes medications. I had to go on a much lower HRT medication, all of the sudden I was getting dizzy spells and vision changes.

Great point! Glad you brought it up.

VERY good point. My dr. stopped one of my bp meds the day after surgery and said I don't think you'll need this. I was SO worried about it but should've trusted him because he was right - now I'm down to one and looking forward to waving it goodbye too. Smart post, thanks for sharing!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
