What Are The Secrets Of A Fill

Recommended Posts

You are sitting there with a needle in your stomach and they give you a glass of Water, I never know how much to drink and when to tell the Dr. I'm 2 years out and still fat.

My surgeon directs the Water drinking. He hands it to me, and tells me to drink it all, and when to swallow. If, iI feel it in my throat, then it is probably too much. Let the Doc, direct the drink. Good luck, Karen

I don't drink Water until the fill is finished. I did not get restriction until 10.6 cc's. You mention being fat. How much have you lost? How much do you still have to loose? I have been banded for almost 2 years. I have lost 70 pounds and am still considered overweight. I have about 60 pounds to go.

The dr is directing it but I never know how much to drink. I want a tight fill but dont know if I need to drink a few sips or the entire glass.

He inserts the needle, has me sit up then gives me a glass of Water to drink and tells me to drink till I feel it. I never know how much that is. I am 2 years out and have lost 35 pounds but still have 60 to go. I have almost given up and I know my husband has.

After they do the fill, I sit in the waiting room and drink some Water. If it goes down okay, then you're good. If you feel it start to back up or you feel nauseous, you're probably too tight (nausea happened to me in the waiting room and I had to immediately get some taken out). I don't think it's a matter of how much you drink; you're feeling in your body how the water is going down. Just sip it; don't gulp it.

I guess every dr does it differently. He inserts the needle then has me sit up with the needle still protruding then has me drink then when I tell him I feel it, he removes the needle. I am so tired of being fat and thought this would be my magic pill of sorts.

It is definitely harder than I thought, as well. I thought I would be at my goal long before now (almost 2 years out). I have realized that unfortunately most of the work is still up to me.

My doctor leaves the needle in, too, so he won't have to restick if the Water has any problem going down. He usually tells me to take two pretty good size gulps and see if I have any problem. One thing I have learned for me personally, room temp Water goes down easier than cold water, so I always ask for a room temp bottle.

My doc inserts the needle and I drink the white chalky barium and he tells me if my sip is too small..he does mine under fluro..so that way he can see everything...I talk to him while he's doing it about what I feel and he doesn't take the needle out until we are done...the needle is so huge I refuse to look at it...lol

He puts in what he sees fit, does take the needle out, he says big gulp, and hands me a cup of Water, as usual I have a hard time talking even focusing and he has me lie back down to take some out.

I always advise people to take a big gulp of Water before leaving the office, not just a little sip. Sometimes a sip will go down when you're too tight but a big gulp won't.

Twice I've had to have a little Fluid immediately removed because a sip went down but when I did the big gulp the Water gurgled back up my throat.

My Doctor leaves the needle in and then tells me to drink normally as if I were at home...he then ask how did it go down....then he will take some of the Water out and ask how did it go down...he will then but some in and asked how was it this time. That way he can tell if I can actually tell the difference with the amount that he needs to put in for the fill....and he can place an accurate amount in.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
