I agree that attitude is everything. Every day we can either feel sorry for ourselves and what we've lost (being able to take the easy road and eat whatever, whenever) or go full steam ahead. Be prepared to work for it and have bad days. Do not expect perfection of yourself or compare yourself to other posters here. We all have different goals, personalities, and weaknesses. I am still new to this but I try to ignore negativity and do what works for me. I have no doubt you can succeed. :)

Well, today is July 25th. I'm being banded on July 27th. Less than 24 hours to go until my big BAND day! I'm very excited and can't stop smiling. I'm really not nervous, and I'm taking this as a good sign.

I've really had very little trouble with my pre op diet. Two weeks on the Liquid Protein has been very doable. I've lost just over 15lbs. Very happy about that. I always knew that I ate too many carbs and not enough Protein. It seemed that no matter how much I tried to count calories, it's been very hard for me to lose any weight. The fact that I have dropped 15lbs in less than two weeks is almost a miracle. I know now that I really need to focus on protein and low carbs in order for me to be successful. I have thought longingly of my beloved pastas these past days, but they have not been a friend to me. My new love will be fish, chicken, lean moist meats, high protein, low fat dairy, veggies. But most of all I want my new love to be myself. I have hated myself for far too long. I've neglected myself and forgotten to ever put my needs first.

I have a funny story to tell. I have 2 small dogs: chihuahua and a yorkie. My two babies, always at my feet or on my lap. Before I started my protein fast I bought some high end dog food. Some very good wet and some very nourishing dry. Now I have always cooked for these two little munchkins, along with every other living thing that comes through my door. I feed everyone, that's what I do. BTW, that's changing, a bit. So, I put down their food, regular dog food, just what they should have always been eating. They both take a sniff and walk away. But, they are watching me, " yeah , right Mom, now wheres our real food?" So I say to them, " Listen up you two, new rules,, you'll either be eating your new food or I'll be planting you both in my flower bed, your choice." I swear, they were both listening to me like dogs do, turning their heads this way and that. So, Bailey, the yorkie, he walks over to his plate and starts right in eating. I about fell over. It took Coco a little longer, but she ended up eating hers too. It was the funniest thing. I swear they understood just what I was saying. Too funny. Taught me a lesson. ASK and you shall recieve.

I love it. My boys got on the healthier eating bandwagon right away - they still get their kibble, but now they get increased veggies right along with my husband and I :) In fact, now when I bring the veggies home it's almost impossible to set them down for any period of time to put other things away first - they'll root through the bags and make off with my fresh produce!

Good luck on Friday, you'll be in my thoughts!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
