2 Weeks Out, Eating Almost As Much As Before

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was banded on 6/28. I am feeling great but did anyone else feel like they were eating the same amount as before? I know it will change when I start getting fills, but just curious.

Thanks,

Deborah

I was banded on 6/18 and have not had a fill yet. My dietician said until

I get a fill any weightloss is willpower only. She told me to try to stick to Protein between meals, (if i cant stand the hunger) drink lots of Water and start excersising as much as possible. I bought some Protein Bars for emergencies. I can't wait for my 1st fill to get started losing weight.

The biggest thing at this time is to follow your doctors diet. My doctor told me to eat only 1/2 cup to a cup 3 times a day and that is what I have done since I was banded on 5/24. I was way too scared to stretch my pouch out to go past what my doctor wanted me to eat.

I have the same problem. Its hard not to eat! It is pure willpower and if we were good at that we would not be in this position in the first place!! My doctor did not give me limits on what to eat, like a cup or half a cup, just to use my head. Eat Proteins first, try to stay full and cut out the junk.

I have tried to keep as much to it as I can, I have been pretty successful, but not perfect.

It will get better after we get fills!! We just need to make it there first!

Good luck!!

Oh Yeah! You are in "Bandster Hell". Doctors do not put much saline in your band because they sew the band into the surface of your stomach. They do not want your stitches to come out and if you get some food stuck and have a vomiting spell you could tear those sutures away. The portal between the pouch and stomach is large at this point.

One of our bandsters, and I try to give him credit when I can(B-52), has a saying for this phase of your journey. "Until there's restriction, it's just another diet"! This is where you are and will be till you get that one fill that allows you to feel that first stuck episode. Or at least feel like you are much fuller than before.

Almost every one of us have gone through this phase.

Glad I'm not the only one! 3 weeks out and I'm hungry as ever. Was told 3 meals a day of 1/4 cup! With small Snacks between. Pretty hard for a 260 lb man, lol.

Once you start getting fills, you'll feel the difference! Some people can feel the difference without a fill, but in most cases it takes a fill to really feel it.

My doctor never gave me directions based on volume. He did say however to weigh Protein out to 3 oz. Are you doing that? If not I recommend you start. Because you can eat a lot does'nt mean you should. Measure and eat 3 oz of protein and then eat a portion of low carb/cal/fat veggies.

When you have your band implanted there is no Fluid in the band so no restriction. The only thing you will feel is the swelling from surgery. You will be able to eat a hefty portion until you find your green zone once you start getting fills. Make sure you are getting enough Protein in and that will help curb your hunger. The band is a tool to help you not do it for you.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
