Gas Pain Or Stuck Pain??

Recommended Posts

Ok this is gonna be long but I need answers. Thank you for ANY help or info you got :)

Yesterday I had what I thought was a horrendous gas pain spell, lasted for almost two hours. I even broke down and had a few sips of sprite to ease my suffering before I could get to the local Walgreens for some EXTRA Strength Gas-X. Eventually it slowly (very) subsided. Now I'm not so sure it was gas at all ??

Today, I got up late (very) and had some ice tea and went grocery shopping and to pickup my pain meds at Walgreens. When I got home I realized it was almost 4pm and I hadn't eaten anything to speak of. I felt sooooo much better from yesterday I had bought some Soup-At-Hand chicken with stars and drank that slowly but I knew I hadn't had near enough Protein today so I shortly after had a Protein shake (30g, 160cal) and about an hour later it all started again... :(

I've had 3 Gas-X pills, a small cup of clear seltzer that I sipped and swished in my ed in my mouth and sat in my massage chair for about 40 minutes to try to shake it up and release some gas and pain. I just got out of the chair to write this and I already feel the pressure building once again... Now I'm thinking maybe I'm stuck. the pain is around my sternum and after all that time in my chair, the seltzer and the Gas-X if it was gas I would have expected some relief by now.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Are you trying to use selzer to make your self belch? I'd say most doctors tell you to AVOID carbination. Also when was your surgery? Are you supposed to be on liquids only? If so Soup with stars is not a liquid.< /p>

Stop the carbonation on a new healing tummy its sore and that does not help. Are you sliming if not probably you are not stuck, if you have not eaten . I know this is a new thing for you and every twinge can be frightening . I noticed you are taking pain meds .....pills can really irritate your esphogas and cause pain. Don't know why you rae taking them but if its for surgery pain try liquid tyenol instead if you have to take something for surgery pain.

If your drinking seltzer it can be adding to your issue like Honk said.

You said you didn't eat all day, so you were probably pretty hungry and could also be dehydrated which will make you even tighter. You need to get your fluids in and also watch when you drink your Protein shake do you gulp it down? You can drink those too fast, I know that I cannot drink them fast because depends on the time of day the body might not be working right.

When your stuck it happens usually within a minute or so from taking a particular bite and you will know it. For me it comes with various degrees of my mouth filling with saliva, tough to breath etc.

Had you taken any medication or Vitamins prior to the feeling because it could be a slow moving pill that is irritating your insides. I will get what feels a bit of a irritation then it will go away when i eat something. I would also check with your doctors office. Keep in mind, no eating will also cause your body to shut down the weight loss process and keep the fat reserves. So make sure you do eat and get your Protein in.

are you making up your Protein Drink with milk? i had big problems with very bad stomach pain until i realised it was the milk in the Protein Drink that was doing it. i stopped using milk, just use a little greek yoghurt now... within a few hours the dreadful pain had gone. i dont have milk in any other foods at all.

Well, ended up in urgent care last night followed by the er... Without getting into tmi, it was NOT gas :-/. Anyway, had full work up (CT, X-rays, ultrasound) and all is well with the band. Thanks to the great staff at DRH (you guys rock, and addressed my crippling pain first!). Went to Walgreens and got chewable flintstones with Iron rather than the sizable costco style I had been taking (flintstones are more complete as well). Thanks to my LBT CREW for all your comments! Gonna work on my Fluid intake as well, heard you all loud and clear!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
